That's a Cameroun army MRAP, a US donated Cameroun army MRAP.
Ah yes. It is a DCD, donated to Cameroun from excess US stock.

Don't MRAPs come standard with radios?

No. In all the pics I've seen of your REVA APCs, only a handful have comms antennas.

The French have a drone base in N'djamena Tchad, i think the base in Bosso, Niger is an American base.

First off, only Africans can help ourselves.

Only Nigerians can solve Nigerian problems, countries carry out tasks based on personal interests. Nothing is for free.

As far as i know, American drones in the Nigerian battle-space are deployed for the feel good factor ...... Just to look good on CNN or BBC.

The Nigerian Air Force has a significant amount of ISR assets which the service deploys day/night for recon duties.
now your starting to sound like a politician, look at this issue as a field commander responsible for territory covering thousands square miles with frequent enemy activity.manned ISR aircrafts are limited by our physiology ,also the drones you have are limited in range because they can only operate within line of sight and can't operate from unprepared runway e.t.c

McDonald’s robbery thwarted by French special forces eating in restaurant

The 11 off-duty soldiers waited patiently for the armed robbers to finish up and try to leave before they pouncedWhen the two armed men entered the McDonald’s in Besancon, a city in eastern France near the Switzerland border, they found about 40 people dining on fast food.

Here’s what they didn’t know: among the customers were 11 off-duty members of the French paramilitary special forces, soldiers who specialize in hostage situations, reported The Telegraph.

As the men burst into the restaurant late Sunday night, firing a warning shot and allegedly ransacking the cash register, the special forces just waited. They wanted to avoid drawing their guns, officials told The Telegraph, to prevent any collateral damage.

With his loot allegedly in hand, about $2,270 (U.S.) according to AFP, one of the robbers rushed toward the door. But his getaway was quickly thwarted. Mid-escape, he tripped.

The special forces pounced.

When his partner attempted the same manoeuvre, the military officers intervened again, reported AFP, and demanded the second alleged robber drop his weapon. He refused, according to the newspaper, and the officers shot him in the stomach.

Nigeria is expected to induct 24 - 40 jets in the coming years. We hope the fighter performs well in the Air-to-Ground role.

It's unlikely that Nigeria's neigbours would get the JF-17. They'll be probably looking at the L-15, YAK-130, Super-Tucano or excess French Armee d'l Air Mirage 2000s.

But it's capable to carry out some light attack at lower cost . A bugget light fighter.
The price Is not higher than BAE hawk with above 3000kg payload. able to take off and land on short distance runway.it's good for CAS(close air support) mission.
Even Ukraine considers local producing it .

Correction, Nigeria has the largest economy in Africa at $570 billion.

It takes $12,000 to keep an SU-30 in the air for one hour. That's expensive for 80% of the countries on earth.

There are a lot of considerations which go into buying an aircraft. At $12,000 an hour, the Nigerian Air Force surely wont get the SU-30.

Nigeria only has two options for fighter aircrafts. Russian and Chinese, and we are going for the Chinese/Pakistan JF-17.

Although the J-10 would have been a much better option in my opinion.

The Yak -130, L-15 and Aermacchi M-346 are of the same origin at beginning project by Yakovlev, but later split and compete with each other that bring the price down.

As for Multi-role Fighters?very little help and technical support among contries .Because all countries want to have advantage over others. Italy can't make it independently only to join EU on Typhoon project. Russia and China work on their own. China buy Russia or Ukraine engine but also make own engine for backup
.
There are very little contries paticularly design a Light Multi-role Fighter.Maybe JF17, LCA tejas,FA-50 could be called a Light Multi-role Fighter. The tejas and FA-50 are American technical supported use US engine.
JF17 Is mainly of Pakistan and China origin with Russia or Chinese engine .

Gripen can be called a Light Multi-role Fighter too. with better radar and lower RAS a bit better engine and far more expensive price. JF17 will catch up on later version .Not long ago the payload Is 4000kg ,recently JF-17B dual-seats version 4500kg.

You mean there were still people banging on about 6 pilots, mothballed Gripens, and pilots training in Russia and Cuba myths?

By the way, the youngsters in Russia and Cuba are students who did not get into the SAAF basic flying training programme, whether for lack of schooling or lack of space. They're performing remedial ground courses and schooling to prepare them to re-apply.

Chad Deploys 2,000 Soldiers to Troubled Niger

About 2,000 troops from Chad have arrived in Niger, where Boko Haram fighters have inflicted losses and displaced tens of thousands in the country's southeast, the Reuters news agency has reported.

Citing two unnamed military sources, Reuters said Chadian troops had arrived in the neighbouring country on Tuesday and were advancing on Bosso, a town near Lake Chad that has been the scene of clashes in recent days.

The attacks on Bosso, a military garrison close to the border with Nigeria, began on Friday.

At least 32 soldiers, including two from neighbouring Nigeria, were killed, authorities said on Saturday. A total of 55 fighters belonging to Boko Haram were also killed and "many" others injured.

On Wednesday, UNHCR's Louise Donovan, told Al Jazeera that more than 17,000 people had arrived in the town of Diffa following the fierce fighting in Bosso. There were 2,600 children among the displaced.

The UN says up to 50,000 people have fled the town, the majority of whom are now living in the open and in precarious conditions.

While Boko Haram is said to have retaken Bosso on Sunday night, it is unclear who is now in charge of the town.

Humanitarian groups said civilians were living in extremely vulnerable conditions.

The medical charity, Doctors Without Borders (MSF), said in a statement on Wednesday that the majority of newly displaced people had been displaced previously.

"Bosso and surrounding areas were supposed to be a sanctuary," Elmounzer Ag Jiddou, MSF's head of mission in Niger, said.

this seems to be a developing story ,AU chairwoman condemn this attack on the ethiopian base

Militants say kill 43 in attack on Ethiopian base in Somalia

MOGADISHU (Reuters) - Somalia al Shabaab militants said their fighters rammed a suicide car bomb into a base of Ethiopian troops serving with the African Union's AMISOM force, stormed inside and killed 43 soldiers on Thursday.

Residents near the base in the central town of Haglan said they heard a huge explosion and then heavy exchanges of gunfire shortly before dawn. Shots ran out at least an hour after the initial blast, they added.

There was no immediate comment from the African Union's AMISOM force, made up of African nations supporting Somalia's Western-backed government in its fight against the al Qaeda-linked militants.

AMISOM usually says it is up to troop-contributing countries to announce casualties. In the past, casualty figures cited by al Shabaab have been much higher than official numbers.

"Our fighters stormed the Halgan base of AMISOM," al Shabaab's military operations spokesman Abdiasis Abu Musab told Reuters. He said the group used a suicide car bomb and then militants had exchanged fire with Ethiopian troops there.

He said "several" al Shabaab fighters died, but did not give a number.

"It was a huge blast. It destroyed the gate and parts of the base," the spokesman said, adding al Shabaab fighters overran the base and drove out the Ethiopian troops before withdrawing.
