Hey guys, has anyone used Form A lately? Or for those that used Form A, was your payment deducted in whole or in bits? Made a transaction with Form A but not the full amount was debitted. Has anyone experienced this before? What could be the reason for this? |

Hello beautiful people, I'm not going to bother you much, I'm just going to hit the nail on the head with my questions. I've read much about this particular thread, but am yet to clarified based on my personal findings. I just want to know can i process the whole application on my own without getting an agent involved? I'm not selfish, i just think the only area their more useful to us is the sponsorship aspect cos they always know how to provide a profitable sponsor. Please can someone buttress my point cos you are gonna help a brother for real...thank you and God bless.. |

Hi all, I just joined Nairaland due to the wealth of information available here. Allow me to go straight to the point. I plan to do my masters in the US and I'm hoping to get a scholarship but I'm not sure about the steps to follow. I have already applied to my school of choice and this is the email they sent to me below: Dear Vivian, Thank you for your application to Sacred Heart University's. Your application will be considered by the Admissions Committee once all your credentials have been received in the Office of Graduate Admissions. To date we have not received the following: College Transcript Non-refundable Graduate Application Fee Recommendation - First Letter Recommendation - Second Letter Resume Bank Statement or Financial Guarantee Copy of Passport TOEFL or IELTS Score You may log into your admission's portal to upload supplemental documents Click here to access the portal. If your $60 non-refundable application fee is listed as outstanding above, you can submit payment online at http://graduate-appfee.sacredheart.edu . If you have any questions about the status of your application, please contact me. Sincerely, So now from this email I believe I should start preparing to take the IELTS exam and since they didn't ask for GMAT then no need to take that. Now my problem is since they need me to provide "financial guarantee" can I go ahead and apply for a scholarship? Or will I only be able to apply for a scholarship after I have been given the admission? Please I need help, I'm new to this. Thanks. |

Hello, Background story: i have a sister in US and she works in the same city as the school i want to attend. Honestly it was not planned. She just recently finished school and got her first job there. My first application: i lied that i had no relatives. Should i say the truth in my second DS160 or stick with my lie? Also i was denied on Tuesday. Will going for another interview after 2 weeks be a red flag? Please this is my transcript i have planned for my second interview. What do you think? And what other question should i prepare for? VO: Why are you going to US or tell me about your program Me: i want to purse a Masters degree in Information Communication Technology at University of Kentucky. VO: why University of Kentucky? Me: University of Kentucky has a good ranking for the ICT program. Their curriculum includes different library science courses which for me as a library scientist is a big plus because I would get to gain ICT and advanced Library science knowledge. Also they were sent my an email encouraging me to complete my application which me feel welcome VO: what would you do after your program or your future plans Me: i would come back to take up an employment at the University of Ibadan Library and Information Science department. I have always wanted to lecture and in the long run i plan to be a consultant to provide longlasting solution to the problems in business, communities and government technological loopholes in Nigeria. Also, to take over my parents business as i am the only son. VO: who is your sponsor Me; My parents VO: what do they do? Me: they are into business. They own various hotels in various cities on Nigeria and own a construction company. VO: what course will you be taking? Me: ICT in society, information architecture, knowledge management, cybercrime and digital law enforcement. VO: why were you denied your first time Me: i think because i did not give enough ties back home |

Vanillaskin: You have not made an application. No LORs, SOP, no test scores, applying to just one university, what if they don't offer you admission? How were you even able to make an application? In fact, are you sure that school is not a "mush room" school that VOs might bounce your visa for abscondment reasons? Because they have not handled things in a standard way. You have been in the dark for too long and I am sure you have found the light with this thread. Share your academic profile with the house, when do you intend to apply cos you fall admission is almost over? Which schools are you targeting, budget situation if possible. We can help out. That scholarship situation or better still graduate assistanship is tricky. Yesterday, I saw a frontpage post about a guy who has a 1k5 per month assistantship, but who is still contemplating whether he should attend or not when he doesn't actually have any tangible thing to do in naija. MSNAS was even trying to help but dude is confused in an ocean of dead opinions, and he should be on this thread cos he almost all the advice he was getting were not useful. |

DareFadi: If he was approved at the window and later refused, your friend was also informed of the reason. Just because you tell the truth today doesn't mean you can escape the lies of your past. It's purely speculation as we don't know the details of this specific case, but maybe he had applied with a false name and date of birth in the past - it happens. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Pelaiye2703: Yes. In fact, we encourage you to not use agents. The process is easy and instructions are outlined on the US embassy website. You also don't need a sponsor. 2 Likes |

DeeTus:Nope sir, am not using a fake statement of account. I intend using my dad's statement of account. All i seek for is people's opinion without involving an agent. I know the prerequisites for filling an application. Apply to the school, send your transcripts, application fee, i-20, interview Toefl, gmat etc...blah blah blah...My question is can i go through this on my own?? |

LagosNIV: So there you go to the original person who posted. @Sorbitalll Here is with an example of reason for denial .... this is from a Lagos NIV VO (a good insider info ) so there you have it. I have always said you need to be accurate and consistent because you never know when what you thought was little non issue or white lie pops up to become a problem. Your friend can go for another interview but whatever is the problem is not going away easily and might be hard to correct. All the best to him |
