The Chairman, Senate Committee on Domestic Debt and Loans, Shehu Sani has expressed deep concern over the darkness being experienced across the country.
He stressed that no excuse by power stakeholders was cogent enough to substantive hardships that Nigerians were passing through.

Describing the drop in power supply as unacceptable and embarrassing, he called on President Muhammadu Buhari to rethink his way towards appointing a Minister who is not only an electrical engineer, but who has the knowledge of the industry.

“We are in a state of paralysis, and there is urgent need to appoint a reputable electrical engineer to manage the affairs of power, independent of other responsibilities”, he said.

Sani added: “Distribution Companies (DISCOs) were now distributing darkness despite increment in electricity tariff; private power investors have failed the nation by moving manageable power epilepsy to a complete paralysis.”

He called for a review of defunct Power Holdings Company of Nigeria assets, noting that privatisation of power regime had brought untold hardship to Nigerians.

While suggesting for the setting up of energy task force responsible for immediate technical and financial intervention in generation, transmission and distribution, he urged government to invest in renewable and non renewable energy.

Politicians in Nigeria needs 2 learn a great lesson from the APC that Nigerians will hold dem 2 dia promises. Buhari, Fashola, & Co were busy spreading promises like HIV asif they're magicians. Now itz time 2 change dia magical words in2 reality. 2019 is coming soon. . . If they like let dem promise 2 fence & roof Nigeria & put ACs on the streets. They will definitely b judged by dia words.

There are so many kids here on nairaland that are products of failed and dysfunctional educational system.

Fashola has no business in Power Ministry, He is just an average lawyer with average IQ.
I dont seem to understand how Buhari decided to place a square peg in a round hole.

The Ministry needs a veteran Electric Engr with proven track record. I seriously weep for this country.

At least GEJ used Engineers during his time and we witnessed a little improvement.

I bet you, Fashola knows he couldn't handle that ministry but they all prefer to die in power.

You are the biggest illiterate here for not understanding the fact that we have been in darkness before the bombing started. I wonder how sentiment suddenly beclouded some people's sense of reasoning in this country. The Senator made a very good suggestion, which even an illiterate in the street understands that putting Fashola there in the first place was a total error. What happened to sound Engineers in Nigeria?

By trying to make a fool of someone who made a reasonable comment you just made an unintelligent comment .
The 2 main power generation of This country are GAS and HYDRO.. Gas plants are responsible for 70% power generation.
FYI before D Avengers began their madness we generated our highest power ever. About 5500MW under buhari administration..when gas lines that distribute fuel to the power generators are damaged,no power is generated.. What do you want fashola to do ?
