wadetaw202: Most of the commenters on this issue are even ignorant of the genesis of what they are commenting on. The government passed are law banning the use of hijab in government schools but the Muslims went to the court to protest against the ban and the court ruled in their favour . how is that the fault of Aregbesola ? What stops the Christian leaders from appealing the judgement instead of constituting themselves to nuisance and threathing the peace of the state ? 4 Likes 2 Shares |

Agbaletu: How are so sure of such an allegation ? because the ruling governor is a Muslim right ? Even such an allegation is true what stops the Christian leaders from appealing that judgement instead of all this nonsense ? How does hijab on Aishat's head even affect uncle Joseph sef ? Aren't the two religion suppose to tolerate each other ? Is it today that those students start wearing hijab ? how does that affect the pastor in his Church ? Maybe the two religion should be banned and everybody should start worshipping his/her God at the corner of their homes if they can't tolerate each other. 3 Likes 1 Share |

wadetaw202: it is left for you to do your investigation on issues before joining any side as I don't have of the time educating elderly ones on what they suppose to do instead of involving themselves in mob mentality. This issue has been on ground for more than a year but because the court ruled in favour of the Muslims and people started accusing him of influencing the judgement. An accusation which they can't even defend. why can't the Christian leaders appeal the judgement and follow the legal path towed by their Muslim colleagues ? I don't know religious leaders start behaving like this sef. |

The govt should allow all parties to where their religious regalia since Hijab does not affect Joseph's accademic performance Christian regalia should not affect Sherifatu as well. Two religious group are fighting and some people still dey deny it. As dem dey deny dem still d fight for nairaland yet can still dey deny. 3 Likes |

Alphaoscar:you are viewing the issue sentimentally, that's why you can't seem to see that it's all an agenda unfolding. First, aregbesola merged schools of different origin and beliefs. Why would a governor cancel an ancient land mark by bringing Islamic schools and merging them with Christian schools? The Muslim's that were used to wearing their hijab to school continued such which made the governor to ban it so as to seem like there wasn't an agenda. Their next move was to go to court in the guise of fighting for their right knowing fully well they were going to be favoured judiciarilly cos the state government, who would be the defendant, would put up a weak defence. This led to the court favouring the Islamic people and hijab wearing, stating that it's is their religious right. To show you that it is all an agenda, why would aregbesola threaten to expel any student wearing Christian robs or attire to school? Is it not also their Religous right as stipulated by Justice Falola? Why the preferential treatment if he wasn't part of the grand agenda? There's no need for the CAN leaders to appeal the case cos they might not get a fair hearing. They have agreed for hijab to be worn to schools. So, Muslim's and the state government should allowed Christians and people of other religion to wear their religious attires if they do wish. Giving preferential treatment to the muslims is tantamount to saying they own the schools and the government. The law has been passed: Allow religious rights in schools. cc beremx 16 Likes 1 Share |

bloodyBLOGGER: Thank you for at least your civil and respectful stance on this issue . You know as a Christian it is a sin bearing false and unsubstantiated witness FYI, Osun is not the only state where the Muslims sued the government to court on this hijab issue . Even there is a pending case in Lagos state and I think Oyo state too on this so accusing Aregbesola of planning all this may actually be a false accusation. The court ruling did not permit wearing church robes , Islamic Jalamia or even caps for male students but just strictly approved the use of Hijab which normally should be a short hijab that should just cover the head like you have in corporate environment . The Muslims never protest the use of beret in school so why can't the Christian leaders just buy beret for their children or behave in a civil manner by going to the court of appeal and the supreme court. This unnecessary fight of supremacy among the religion should stop !!! let them devote their energy to something more meaningful and productive . we are all families in Yorubaland irrespective of whatever you worship your God. 3 Likes |

Alphaoscar:Thats what I meant by a grand plan. If you noticed, when the issue started, majority of the states where it was been discussed were APC states with Muslim governors. That shows you they have an agenda. Why not mimiko of Ondo state or Fayemi/Fayose of Ekiti state? Alphaoscar:do you know how the law works? A political ruling in the Supreme Court concerning a Rivers State election can be cited in making a ruling concerning Sokoto state. For the court to allow a religion to have its rights approved, then it means other religions are free to enjoy same. This means it has been accepted by the law for religious tolerance in dress code. Same way Homosexuals have their rights allowed in the USA is the same way transgenders and bestiality is allowed. You can't favour one and restrict the rest. If hijab could be allowed, then robes and traditional beads etc, should be allowed too. Alphaoscar:You are not to tell them how Christians should dress. If they decide that they don't want their boys to even wear shirts to school, no one can stop them cos it is their religious rights. This time, they have agreed on robes cos they agreed for Muslims to wear hijab. Aregbesola and his Muslim people should also agree on robes to be worn by Christians and beads by traditionalists. It is their religious right too Alphaoscar:The fight can only stop if the government reverse the ridiculous and confusionist policy of merging schools of no religious relationship together. 10 Likes 1 Share |

bloodyBLOGGER:Very simple, that's what the christians has suggested even 3 years ago. The governor is not ready to do this, but we don't know WHY? Since the state was created in 1991 female muslim students have been wearing hijab to schools and there was no problem, something should make us sit down, think and find out why this problem is brewing now. Adeleke was a muslim, Akande was a muslim, Oyinlola was a christian, why was there no issue on hijab then? THE GOVERNOR CAUSED IT. 4 Likes |

bloodyBLOGGER: No principal or headteacher have any right to send any student away if the government through the ministry of Education did not ban the use of hijab so fat it is of the same colour with the uniform. The allegation of Governors promoting the use of hijab is totally unfounded and I will be the last person to buy into that . Ambode is a Christian governor in Lagos while Ogun is not experiencing this under Amosun who is a Muslim governor so please let the God fight his battle. The Muslims have been cohabiting with the Christians in the SW without any quarrel now some of us are advocating for division among ourselves. God will not help them . let's maintain the mutual respect and continue to live in peace or the two religions should be banned from the public. I thought you all mostly accuse the Muslims of been extreme ? Your own stance too is extreme already. The judgement is based on hijab and anybody that feels like wearing robes to school should just go to court to get that enforced or face the consequences of their action. And for the court rulings , if a state high gave a ruling you don't like you should proceed to the appeal court and from their you can head to the supreme and the last time I check we have only one supreme court in the land . As it stands now the governor have no legal power to stop students using their hijab until the appeal or supreme court rule otherwise. doing so will amount to the contempt of the court which is a serious offence. 4 Likes |

Alphaoscar:"Premising his judgment on Section 38 of the Nigeria Constitution and Article 8 of the 2004 policy published by the state Ministry of Education, Justice Falola held that female Muslim students were not exempted from the freedom of religion, conscience and thought." If they are not exempted, others shouldn't be too. Christians are not saying they should not use hijab, they are saying others should be allowed to wear there religious attires too. 5 Likes |

Alphaoscar:you skipped the part where I said that we can only continue the peaceful coexistence between both religions in SW if the extremist of a governor can abolish the policy of merging schools of different religious backgrounds. Any other suggestion is equivalent to further division and confusion. Religion should never be brought into western education except it is done in a privately owned school. As long as it is public, any clamour for religious rights should be kicked off or else what we see in Libya, Egypt, Syria, Turkey, Palestine and the whole Middle East where conflict is the order of the day will be experienced here. 3 Likes |

salaksmana:that section is applicable to all religions, not Muslim's alone. See below: 38. (1) Every person shall be entitled to freedom of thought, conscience and religion, including freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom (either alone or in community with others, and in public or in private) to manifest and propagate his religion or belief in worship, teaching, practice and observance. so, the should allow all religions to have the same freedom the Muslim's have in schools. No need for CAN to go to court again. @alphaoscar 3 Likes |
