Haba dey talk true small na. This phone is more different from the c8 than the Galaxy s7 is from the s6. Different design, better camera, double the ram, 1080p full HD display (this one is a major improvement ), aluminum body. That is enough difference bro.

TECNO Camon C9 Price In Nigeria (Photos & Video)

The price is high no doubt. But in all honesty, there are not much phones with full HD 1080p display and aluminum body that are cheaper. Even Gionee m5 has a terrible 720p display and it is selling for 53k plus.

I believe the price would have been lesser if the economy isn't as bad as it currently is.

55 000 naira for 2G RAM, 3 000 mAH battery and above all lack of update? Wetin na? This is what you did when you launched your Phantom 5 and you are yet to recover from the disappointing sale. Put on your thinking cap Tecno. Come on!

Bros I honestly don't know the angle you're coming from if you're talking from just an average users point to view then by all means it's okay but for peeps who are geek and gadget freaks there's no much difference, the processor is almost old as there are better processors from the same manufacturers, other Chinese firms that produce Android devices now give their midrange devices a minimum of 3gb of Ram. The screen is okay. For this price range a finger print sensor wouldn't have been a bad idea and would Android 6.0 be a crime. The battery isn't bad. The specs of the c9 is almost being the default specs for budget phones in China...so they need to up their game the only aspect they got it right is the design but that's of little interest to me. my Lenovo K3 Note has almost exactly the same specs and I have a pending update to Android 6.0 and it 12k cheaper...just my 2 bytes tho

Bros, remote control is nice, but not a big deal, even Samsung had to remove it from the s7.

Bigger battery u say? An extra 3,000mah battery does not cost more than N3,000 to manfacture, so that doesn not justify the high price. Adding a 6,000mah battery to a phone comes at a cost.. it makes the phone hefty which defeats the purpose of making the phone universally accptable. You think all these flagship phones from Samsung, HTC, LG, Sony, even One Plus with sub 3,000mah don't know what they are doing? 3,000mah is decent enough for a normal phone. Gionee just deceive u people wth this big battery and that is why u can't see the phone has a terrible display. 720p on a 5.5 inch is a NO NO for me. How do u even enjoy it? For me it is either QHD or nothing. I can still manage 1080p.

Best selfie camera u say? lol... can u show me proof? Camon c9 has 13mp selfie cam with wide angle.. let me see the m5 beat that.

Wetin u dey talk? Face unlock has been available since android ICS. I have been using the feature since 2011 and u are talking like it is a new feature lol. it is not a big deal, people stopped using it because it can be easily deceived by using a picture of the owner to unlock the phone.

And can't u see that ur Gionee s plus has a 720p display? That alone puts it below the Camon c9 with 1080p display. Go and do ur research, the most epensive parts of phones are the display, u can't compare a FHD display with a 720p display.

I understand what u are trying to say. But lets be honest, 90% of cheap phones coming from China have 720p display, some of them we don't even know what they are made of, they just quote wrong specs but since phones don't have to go through regulatory bodies, they get away with it. You can buy a phone from china today for 30k with impresive specs, but the moment u buy it that's the end. No aftermarket support, no accesories, no update, no warrantee. Tecno has become a household name in Nigeria, they have offices, they pay tax, they participate in promotions, they create jobs for Nigerians, they provide aftersale support.

I'm not here to promote Tecno, I've never used any of their products. But what I'm trying to say is not too far from the truth. Yes we all want cheap phones, if it was 2 years ago thi phone would have sold for 30k. If Tecno release a phone with bad build quality and terrible screen, some will complain that Nigeria is a dumping ground. Now they try to release a phone with premium feel and FHD display, we say it is too expensive.... better things na money kill am oh. A galaxy j7 with 720p screen and 1.5gb of ram costs 75k.

I also hear what you are saying brother and I understand first point of correction if I'm not mistaken that 720p screen of Samsung is an amoled screen and its also HD albeit not full HD and yes there are some brandless Chinese phones that are complete trash but those are not the ones I'm talking about I'm talking of the likes of Elephone Ulefone Cubot Doogee Vernee Oukitel Bluboo dare I mention the top expensive brands LeEco Lenovo Xiaomi Zuk Meizu Nubia ZTE Huawei and the list goes on and on the brands that are not too well know that I mentioned offer devices that have better specs than the C9 at way cheaper prices. I do know the ones you're talking about but those are not the ones I'm talking about. I'm talking about Chinese phones that pass through TENAA before being release to certify that they are viable for use and after all is said and done still offer better specs for better value...You classify phones according to their class Budget Mid-range and High-end If you had said 90% of all the budget phones I'd have agreed with you whole heartedly but this is a phone that aims to be in the mid-range category those specs are meagre for the price compared with midranges coming from China right now. As regards the after care support like it's not like they don't have they actually do but since most of their phones do not have a strong presence in Nigeria how do you go about getting the after care support? Sending your devices there cost a lot not to even talk about getting it fixed..all things being equal in Nigeria that wouldn't have been a problem unless you're a gadget freak. The brand I mention do have updates which are regular although some aren't but at least do. They also have warranty and accessories which you do get upon purchase of the phone you can also order some albeit not a viable option for Nigerians presently cause of the state of the economy. I'm not downgrading Tecno. You are right in the jobs tax and promotions it's a win win for the economy and for some peeps but if a brand like Elephone or Ulefone were to come into the fray the would reduce their price cause of the competition and those ones would be offering specs almost on par with Samsung for way better prices...like I said in my previous post I just want them to up their game a bit... premium feel is mainly about the build and design of the device its just that for peeps like me design matters but so does the specs and the price which should be gotten as a result of the combination of both the design and specs..my 2 bytes

I'm not disputing ur point. But can u pls mention elephone, blueboo, and other Chinese phones apart from xioami with 1080p display, then state their price. It is not easy to see a well known 1080p phone that is under 50k.. rare if u ask me. Most of these phones u mentioned have 720p display, the ones with 1080p will cost u 50k upwards. Meizu m2 will run u 48k plus, ulephone Vienna will run u 57k while ulephone power will run u 60k plus (though both have 3gb of ram and 1080p, but u can't get aftermarket support).

Also about the Samsung j7 720p display, I disagree with u that it is full HD just because it is amoled, that is the misconceptions mist people are getting... that a 720p amoled is equivalent to 1080p IPS. It is wrong.. both technologies have their advantages and disadvantages, while amoled are vibrant, ips represent a more true color. So if a phone has 720p amoled display doesn't mean it is equivalent to 1080p IPS.. no way bro.

Never said that cause its 720p and AMOLED makes it 1080p I'm not stupid now haba give me some credit it's just that most peeps prefer AMOLED screens cause they tend to be better than IPS screens I leave that for screen peeps to argue tho. If you read my post well I said it's HD albeit not fullHD(FHD) which is 1080p abi HD doesn't include 720p again if I'm not mistaking HD starts from 480p 720p and 1080p then you start talking 2K and 4K. In my first post I never bashed the screen I only meant if it was 1080p and AMOLED it would have been better but 1080 and IPS I can live with after all my K3 Note is 1080 and IPS. As per the 1080p phones under 50K they are plenty it's just that our economy now ain't smiling and even at that you'd still find some. My Lenovo K3 Note has a 1080p screen 4G 2gb of Ram 16gb of inbuilt storage Android 5.1 and I've updated 4 times since I got it with pending update to 6.0, Octacore processor 3000mah battery Lets not forget 13mp back and 5mp front cameras that are dope, All @ 42k5. That being said you've almost gotten what I'm saying yes a few of them are under 50k but the ones that are above 50k also have better specs compared to Tecno such as finger print 3gig of Ram Android 6.0 all out of the box....

Bro I get u. Let's look at it from this angle. If tecno didn't have office in Nigeria, if they sold their phones only online and shipped, believe me the tecno camon c9 would sell for about 42k. U know why? Because they won't worry about paying tax to the Nigerian government, they won't worry about spending billions to build or rent offices, they won't worry about aftermarket support, they won't worry about paying their ambassadors. All these things cost money. If u buy a tecno phone today and it develops fault in a few days, u can take it back under warrantee.. I want to see u do that with ulephone or blueboo. Not that it is not possible but the stress alone will discourage u. Tecno phones are not manufactured in Nigeria, they are manufactured in China and shipped to Nigeria. They pay lots of tax to have their business set up here.

I'll give u an example... when one plus one launched in 2013, they didn't have offices in the USA, u have to order online through invite and phone was sold for just $200 with flagship specs. 3 Years later they are now a bigger company and have offices set up in many countries, one plus 3 just launched and it is selling for $400. When u order that phone it is going to cost u nothing less than 150k to get it to Nigeria. U know why? They now have shops in the USA and are paying tax. It is a great phone, a flagship killer but with 1080p display which means it won't be ideal for vr. I have a Samsung gear vr and even with 2k display on the s6/s7 u still see pixels when in vr, so a 1080p phone will be terrible for vr.

Bro... I like your analysis but Oneplus 3 @$399 is not because of it office in the US. Even in China the smartphone costs 2,499 Yuan, multiple that by 0.1573 and you'll see the results, and if you need more prove, check out Oneplus 3 Pricing in all markets HERE, it same all through. Another is Oneplus One sold for $299 officially in 2013. What actually raised the price of 1+3 to $399 is because of the hardware there in. Snapdragon 820, 6 GB RAM, Sony IMX298 16 mega-pixel camera, Sony IMX179 8 mega-pixel front facing camera, Anodized Metal body etc, is enough to be sold at $399.

And finally, If I were to be you, I won't use Oneplus to argue Tecno because these two companies, although from same country, but they are world apart when it comes to pricing. Imagine it Oneplus that launch the Camon C9 in Nigeria, I mean say it Oneplus Camon C9, with Mediatek MT6753 chipset and just 2gb RAM, it would probably cost between 30-35k. I'm not bashing Tecno, but their products bore me.

And if you think there's 13 mega-pixel front and back camera in the Camon C9, then you are joking, cos I can bet either one of the camera sensor MUST BE INTERPOLATED.

OK OK OK.... Sorry for interrupting, now you guys can continue your argument.

All you have said is true.....no doubt but how many Nigerians are tech savvy enough to know about VR let's even say they do do they have the dough to get one...that's another thing entirely I get the whole concept tho but we both could have avoided the whole epistle since what I'm saying in short is that for gadget freaks like me ooo we damn the consequences get all the accessories we might need at point of purchase and get a good device the warranty that's too bad nothing can be done about it and just because our economy is bad and inflation has set in doesn't mean that a particular thing is expensive.. I stand to be corrected thk as I'm no economist
