Though it come at a price which only few (not sissy men) can afford.

I deliberately posed that "rhetorical", to challenge a certain logic. Hell no! No sane one would conjure or imagine serious thoughts of your involvement in any such nefarious course of dealing; same for Syder880. We're good!!!!!! Discerning minds understand my script. Let peace reign! BTW, I agree that we shouldn't throw away a child with the bath water; neither should we deny that said water is murky/dirty and must be discarded. Per Bob Marley, "who the cap fit; let them wear it". Peace!!!!

My brother, I no Follow ooo grin grin

Our work is a type of business that is so intricate that it's difficult to avoid a quarrel, but I am always trying to build a relationship and not just build a house. I want to remain friends with everyone I build for or sell lands to. I left my former place of work (a comfort zone) to do something better with my life. This is my chance to write my name in gold. This is my time to make my name a household name so my descendants will be proud of my work. I am settling a money quarrel between my supervisors as I type this morning.

That said, I still believe we all make mistakes, and that men have a huge possibility of changing for the best when properly corrected. Let us speak more about reconciliation and promotion of better building ideas here. I greet all.

@Spyder880, n3xt and other professionals in the building industry in the house, l read this article online while going through some stuff, do we have this kind of cement in Nigeria?....It is called green cement and it is said to be Eco friendly unlike what we are already used to in Nigeria.

http://www.emirates247.com/news/emirates/green-cement-what-the-world-can-learn-from-dubai-buildings-2016-06-17-1.633268

''Ahmad Saeed Al Badwawi, head of Research and Building Material Studies at Buildings Department, said that the worksheet submitted by the Municipality addressed the environmental disadvantages associated with the use of ordinary cement, which is considered as non-eco-friendly since its industry and applications result in the emission of carbon dioxide and other toxic substances in huge quantities, harming thus the environment, the public health and safety''

Hajji, you really don't know Brabus.

Just about 30 minutes ago, one of my client here that we have heated argument on her project which we did between 2011 and 2013 called me for a project after leaving me an email to feel my pulse.

I replied and asked her to call my line. She greeted and I replied.

She then asked "Aren't you surprised to receive a call from me after all that happened" I quickly cut in "after all that happened yesterday." Then I say "Hey mama, today is a new day what's up for grab"
She said "I was discussing with my sister about a plan to do XYZ and the only that came to my mind is yours and I'll like to know if you'll consider this because you already knew my style - what works and what doesn't."

The past is past. Nobody can ever find me there even if they keep searching till eternity. Do you know why? It's because I'm quick to forgive and let go so that I can enjoy my life in peace. I told the madam that if you're my wife and there's an issue "do you think I'll spend all my life fighting it or move on with my life." I don't know how comfortable I'll be sulking all the days of my life over what can never be undone.

Brabus

Many respect for leadership style on this forum. E o ni d'agba iya o.

Again Brabus,

While it is good to "move-on" and put the past behind us...... what l would have loved to be hearing from you more often, is in the mould of " I have learned lessons from the mistakes l made in the past, l have reformed and have become better than YESTERDAY such that my Clients can be assured TODAY that Brabus will more than bring smiles to their face"!

The two statements are NOT the same thing!

The one you made in your post sounds like "Well, l dont really care and l am not perturbed...... you can bring the job if you dont mind taking the risk"
While the one l wrote (if it comes from you) will make everyone comfortable with you, accept you despite the past errors and be confident that they can rely on you because you have dealt with and come to terms with the past".
This is the impression l want you to always leave in the mind of past and present "possible" Clients.
Some affected Clients may have to suffer over these "errors" for a long time to come, (even though it cannot be undone forever as you put it) but l dont think they would be happy to hear it from you, the way it comes across. This is where "knowing the right words to say, when to say it and how to say it, come-in"

We should NEVER assume that we are indispensable! No one is!

You are very fortunate... though hardworking!
But "Rewards" in life are not "directly proportional" to the level of Hard-work we do otherwise, the artisans should be on the Forbes list!
It is God that blesses and for those like us who are very "fortunate beneficiaries" of God's blessings, Humility and thankfulness should be our watchword!

keeping getting better, may God guide and assist you in that quest.

How I deal with my business is nobody's business? My write-up was not directed at you or anyone except to lastpage.

You can wine me all you want but my decision is my decision. Everyone I listed as witnesses in my write-up were aware when the sh1t happened. So find a place to rest your mind.

Oga Fastshipping,

Please calm down.
Much has been said on the issue.
It is obvious we all take delight in clubbing Judas to death (we normally club an "effigy" of Judas during Easter, just to show how much we detest what he did to Jesus....!) but in reality, we are no better than Judas otherwise, the world and our society wont be what it is today!

The bottom line is that we know who the Contractor is. (Naming him "when the issue is fresh", is good. It puts everyone on notice and forces the Contractor to do what is needed to correct the situation, stop the bad behaviour and improve. That should be our primary objective).

But to keep talking about it, calling him vile names, assassinating his character (just to "get high" and act overly righteous!) months and years after the revelation has been made public and he is making amends as in the case of Brabus.... is nonsensical and hypocritical.

That is my take.

have a good day Bro.

On another note,

Generally speaking, Global warming is causing a lot of damage world wide and water levels are rising at an unprecedented level.
So, it does not mean one have not taken good level in your house when you see it flooded this year or after..... The carnage in France, Germany, the UK and Ireland this year alone showed that flood-water has touched places it never reached in over hundred years in the past.

I think we all just need to understand that going forward, we must make "extra provisions" for unprecedented level of flood, any build we are doing.
I am currently on a build that is four Planks of raft above road level. (the rest are below road level). I think l shared the "foundation picture" with you somewhere on this thread about a month ago.
Everybody in Lekki and Ajah environs should factor this in, do proper drainage and stop blaming each other.

My neighbour saw my DPC and said "Oga, this foundation is too much o, it will sink surrounding house" (he said it jokingly but the meaning was not lost on me either).

I smiled disarmingly and replied in my most calm tone: No Sir, l am just planning for the future incase the soil underneath decides to eat one floor!

He looked puzzle but decided not to say anything more. grin grin

Bringing to light the issues of a contractor is meant for enlightenment on the part of clients/potential clients and it's for the accused to make amends. Life is a continuous learning process.
It is always good to have an insight into the track record of every contractor especially for someone in the diaspora and be able to view the contractors professional progress over time. A contractor can be famous and another infamous, it's upto the contractor to choose which path to follow.
Nevertheless, the ills of one's past doesn't dictate the future of a man except a man that fails to heed to correction.

@EgunMogaji.....kindly post pictures after the aluminum cladding is done. I like full house exterior cladding as well that is light weight not like marble or stones. I am still looking for a design done locally in Nigeria that will enthusiastically astonish my mind. I believe it's a good material to use for those developing project on the island that contend with water (Correct me if I am wrong, over to all the pros in the house to see how it can be achieved).
I like the job done at the Yoruba tennis club in Ikoyi, thanks to DominionNg for sharing the picx. It looks like light weight material. Below are examples of picx I like there cladding

Some of you need to get a life out of nairaland and start behaving like adult. It seems only place many of you find solace is nairaland. All some of you want is to create a thread and attach a name so you can have your character assassination as usual.
