Goddex:And I can tell you on strong grounds that yaradua was half way done with this project, coz I do see it while traveling during my undergraduate days to ahmadu Bello University zaria. All of a sudden the contractors left for some years for God knows why after GEJ came into power. Work began again in late 2012 when I went for my convocation, but still GEJ couldn't complete it, coz believe me if he had, he would be so hungry to include it in his commissioned projects prior to the election. Instead of the re-energized power plants he was commissioning. All said, God bless the Federal Government of Nigeria for doing what is right. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Then my dream will be to have it as a model of enterprise to attract similar investments in other parts of the country. It doesn't all have to be interstate or passenger. There are some States with large land masses such as Kogi, Cross-River and Taraba with far distances between productive communities where a rail line is imperative. For one the super-highway in Cross-River, good as it may be should have been a super railway instead, cheaper to build, operate, regulate and enterprise. I also hope the Idu line will be attractive to international visitors because that is the sure fire way to advertise for additional investments. So we must hide our nature and do away with filth, touting, beggars, disorderliness, corruption and the terrible mercantile nature of most of our open spaces. In short, make it as decent as Grand Central or Waterloo or something close to them......if only wishes were horses.... |

tiwiex: The funding for that project was concluded since before GEJ came into office, if I'm right it was funded by some Chinese mega bank and Nigerian polithiefcians were not exposed to the funds directly to steal it 1 Like |

chudionu58: He didn't need the budget. All the sudden construction work going on now is due to fear of EFCC by contractors who sat on the moneys paid them. Such works are all over the federation. An example is Kakatar Construction Company which abandoned the road constuction of Maitama Aliero District in Abuja, only to come back to site after PMB's swearing in. Why the break in the first place? Illorin- Jebba road by the Emir of Illorin... so many. |

mrvitalis: OBJ and Abacha vision of collecting oil revenues from the Niger delta but use the revenues to build high speed rail system in the north of Nigeria, while Niger delta people travel with canoes and marshy roads. Later, northern Nigeria would use sharia criminal laws and Boko Haram to chase away southern Nigerians from the north. 1 Like |

Nice one though, I hope we will be able to maintain it cos our maintenance culture in Nigeria is nothing to write home about. God bless the GEJ administration for initiating and PMB for seeing it to its completion. |
