Scroll up, the fourth picture is the other side.
Yes I see now.
It's lower lying land and what you see is a lake of sorts. After the dam was shut (or redirected?) the residual water pooled on this side.

This is very true, we saw it on our way from camp!!
aoluwa1:
I just passed the place and say it with my eyes. It's true. We went to redemption camp in the morning for SOD lectures and it was all flowing. Upon coming back we saw a crowD gathering on the bridge snapping pics and we were thinking that something terrible was going on. Only to see that the ex river was now like a forest that was recently plowed like d pic and people were running over it and white birds landing. We now looked at the other side and it was still flowing water. It even just rained this morning. Nawah o. I don't even know what to say.

Someone will be in red mud zones and be shouting it is a lie ,it can't happen and another one will say na lie, they shut a dam. I beg which dam is supplying that water and for what purpose? At least few guys have witnessed this by showing different pictures yet stubborn heads will still be saying it can't be possible. That's why blacks harldy progress on African soil.
Looking at the scientific angle, what is possible is that the channels in which the river is coming from has been diverted and blocked and channeled to new course. Only tracking it with Google map will really shows what happened. This should not be a surprise to naija deltans. But for the Lillie that grows it is a normal thing during rainy season.

This is pure geology & physical geography playing out here......Simple explanation.....this is caused by a slight angular shift in d plate tectonics due to the earths rotation....and that explains d sudden drift of d river flow......the parent rock type also plays a major role in this......d evidence....the surrounding buildings will have visible cracks in d walls....some may collapse with time....depending on the angle of elevation and the gradient.

It's true. The river got blocked at that very area you see in the picture. But what I know is that if there be a little leak, the current. of the water will be too high.

This is really some strange occurrence, more than 3 people have confirmed it here. Hope the right government agencies have visited the site to ascertain the truth and evaluate the situation, just in case it's a sign of something worse to come.

Nb: by the way, see Nigerians risking their lives to cross. I tire

dam? Thought the body of water at Berger is a river, likely a tributary or distributary of the lagoon. Kindly correct if I'm wrong. Lalasticlala

This is more than picture snapping. There's a crack on the river bed and it's a sign of an earthquake. Government better look into it and plan to evacuate the area before disaster strikes.

We can science this schit.

The water was from a dam that has now been shut - maybe temporarily.

The green vegetation is from the water lilies that have now settled on the ground - must have been pretty dense cover in the first place. They will not be green for long.

The ground is firm, and not particularly silty or muddy because it was always hard compressed clay, overburdened over a long long time and most likely artificially leveled to allow thoroughfare. Juxtapose with the adjoining highland right to the left of it (those shanties- any regular commuter on the route knows where I refer) and the picture becomes evident.

how dumb can you be? there's water on the other side of the bridge. Can't believe some dumb folks also liked your post.Science kor

Exactly my thoughts too. When water recedes from a flooded land, it leaves behind it muddy looks. This is not the case here. My conclusion is that the water receded due to clearing of a blocked canal somewhere close undecided

segebobo:
Ok, I can recognise the Blue house in the first pic but what I don't understand is that how come the river bed is now covered with 'bush' or vegetation . Ain't it supposed to be muddy?

Hmm. Maybe related to the quakes they've been experiencing in Ogun/Oyo/Osun?

That's what happens when God does something.. People become confused and start looking for a scientific explanation for everything. Not everything has a scientific explanation.

There are things in this world we can't explain.

Don't you think they are more important things for God to do? Like feeding millions of malnourished children in Africa, Stop boko haram and ISIS instead of showing up with one river. Please let's try to reason logically instead of adding religious undertone to every strange occurrence. You are actually mocking god not praising him, This is the best he can do when millions die of poverty and diseases every day?

While you praise your god a natural disaster may just be around the corner. I wonder who you will praise(or blame) for that when it happens.
