Be careful how you play with salt,especially with small fishes. It depends on the pond size,a few tablet/capsule of tetracyline would do the job. And buying aquapro would safe you many hazzle,and aid growth

is it grower or layer feed, all can be eaten by your fish,but it is good when you feed precisely the needed feed type when you do animal production there are variation in nutrition need & quality. Even if you mix eba & fishmeal the fishes will grow,the next question is at what rate? My advice is meet the fish/fishes need always,so that you can get good result

starve the fishes for at least 24hrs, then introduce the feed to them in bits, u will know when they are satisfied becos their initial rushing for the feed will reduce after a while

wen you are newly switching to local sinking pellets feed you need a lot of patience wen feeding unlike floating (otherwise you will waste lots of feed that will cause water pollution and that's not good for the health of your fis), also ensure the size of local feed you are switching to is not bigger than the floating.

Fish farming like other business has its prons and cons.. And truthfully its a very lucrative and yet a money draining business..

I have read articles about how lucrative the business is and how to invest and reap millions.. All I do is just to laugh on reading such article.. All they want is just for u to buy their manual and make money.. Surprisingly most of them don't have a farm of their own, they are computer farmers who don't have any experience whatsoever in the business..

I know of farms within my area who have shut down their farms due to frequent loss over the years.. I was also considering shutting down myself after I lost close to 2 million naira, yeah u heard me TWO MILLION NAIRA, but after diligent study which took about a year I decided to give it my last shot..

Please, some ogas in the house should help me on the step by step approach in preparing/ processing a tasty and well spiced smoked catfish.

I will be commencing production of packaged dried fish but only had little experience on how to prepare the smoked fish. All suggestion and advice is welcomed.

somebody asked. a question on how to process and dry fish.
first kill your fishes with salt and leave for about 30mins to die and the slime on the body to go off. then remove the slimy substance on the body. wash thoroughly like twice . at this point if you want to remove the intestine before drying no problem. then fold in the tail into the mouth and put in your oven. by then you must have put your charcoal on fire. getting it ready to put it in ts position in the oven. I normal dry for like 3days to get it dried very well.
once you stack your fishes. close your oven. you can che k it the next day or after so many hours. once its dried. not really dried. but dried enough for you to turn. then turn your fishes and put liitle fire on the oven to avoid your fish burning. then check the next day or after 8 to 10hrs depending on how good your oven

I believe yes it will automatically cause discomfort and indigestion as the water will get polluted easily, the fish will not have enough room to swim and exercise freely and even to feed well.
Though Catfish have the tendency to adapt in harsh and out of water conditions but if you subject them to such for too long yes they will get weak and die.

If you are having a problem with water supply it will be in the best interest of you and your business to secure a pump and water source even if at extra cost.
