How about sms for failed transactions and the reversals? Failed transactions and the reversals are no fault of the customer. |

Wealthyone: My dear, the First bank issue is alarming, do you know they calculate sms charges as debit transaction on accounts so they don't pay u interest. Had a bad experience with dem, I keep money I no touch am, yet I get different alert for things I don't need, then at the end of the month no interest; went to ask and they said I had more than 3 debits, I open mouth ask how dem say na sms debits. I just lost it and transferred my money to diamond bank. Then the funniest thing happened ; after moving the money with plenty fight with manager and teller. Interest was paid on the 12th day of the month after 3 months with interest. I just laughed in Spanish, nack dust comot for nyash dey waka go. Byebye to firstbank.... rubbish people 1 Like |

Strahovski1:And you think you have made sense.smh babyfaceafrica:For those of you calling the OP a liar, i pity you guys. Sometimes it's best to keep quiet when we are not sure bout some issues on ground. I have two first bank accounts and the last time any transaction was carried out on either was 4yrs ago, my last visit to Nigeria. But first Bank of Nigeria keeps deducting money from my accounts monthly or once in two months, and they call it SMS charges...SMS for what? I got fed up once and sent them an email to please deactivate the sms alerts 'cause the phone number they send those alerts to is probably owned by someone else now. They asked i should provide some documents from the Embassy and stuffs , i had to give up 'cause the requirements were much. The deductions have not stopped. Besides, those accounts are not linked to a BVN. Why the transactions ? Op knows what he is saying, i hope these banks see this thread and do something about it...it's really not cool 1 Like |

Op said the truth, I've complained about this several times. There's an account I stopped using, but I get sms notifications every month and got charged. So I don leave am, make dem collect the money till dem make am minus, after all I don dash dem. |

do you receive sms transaction alert through your phone? if yes, that means the SMS for your birthday was not charged. However if you do not receive SMS transaction alert on your phone and you are charged for birthday SMS. Kindly go to your bank and complain |

Re: Is This Right Or Wrong About Most Nigeria Banks? by AntiWailer: 8:31am On Jun 21, 2016 |
yomalex: Probably u mixed up a transaction alert charge for a birthday alert charge. I can tell u with all authority that FIRST BANK does not CHARGE for birthday alert. |

Henrybright:That may be where the real problem is; I don't think GTB does that. The only problem may be that you're being overcharged for SMSes received - I have observed that with different banks. |
