It's like blaming the palmwine instead of the drunkard for getting drunk. It's the fundamentally wrong value system of their upbringing and their unrestrained hunger for power vanity of life in their adult life that brought this shame on them and their families.
They are not the first to take that oath and be sworn in to those offices but they, unlike their predecessors and successors in the future, got there by hook and crook.
