GTB Defrauding Its Account Holders In The Name Of Airtime Purchase by HazzanTazzan(m): 8:45pm On Jun 22, 2016
Last night, i read a guys's thread on this forum claiming he got alert from GTB that some funds running into more than 500naira was removed for mobile airtime purchase which he did last year December. The guy claimed he was charged for the transaction back then... Why will they charge him again?

This afternoon while driving home jejely, I got 4 alerts of airtime purchase I made in may .. #400, #200, #200...
I knew immediately that the same issue I read from someone yesterday is happening to me and I headed to the bank...
The customer care directed me to use the gt connect phone and I did... But to my surprise, the dude on the other end was claiming I wasn't charged for those transactions in the past.... I was just thinking in my mind that if the guy was telling that rubbish to my face, I could punch him... He was so lucky it was over the phone...

There was nothing else I could do so I hung up and went straight to use the POS... Withdrew all my money and headed to my fidelity bank and deposited all...

Another friend of mine has called me to tell me he got debit alert of #1500 for this same reason...

Apart from this issue, I've been practically begging them to stop mobile alert on my account and they keep telling me they've done it but I keep getting mobile alert and they charge me about #700 monthly...

Please watch out for this fraud in GTbank and sharply to and empty your gt bank account cos your money isn't safe in there...

It happened to me just today, still trying to come out of the puzzle. That I purchased airtime on 25th and 26th may this year.

Only reason why I use GTB is coz of robust internet/mobile banking flexibility which is the best so far.Aside from that they deserve serious beating I swear!

Rogues.

I got a message from GT bank also that 200naira has been deducted from my account and while looking at the message all I kept on wondering was when I did that transaction and truthfully till now I can't phantom it. I ran away from another Bank to GT bank because of this same issue and now I don't know where I'll run to cry

I have been pleading with the mods to move this to front page. Am sure some of them are Gtbank account holders. Seun pls do the needful. Here is the link to the thread I opened yesterday

I experienced the same thing about 3 or 4 weeks ago. 4k deducted. I just can't recall buying and not being debited. No. I'm beginning to see that GTB is just like the rest.

Re: GTB Defrauding Its Account Holders In The Name Of Airtime Purchase by abumeinben(m): 11:27pm On Jun 22, 2016
Well for me, I haven't noticed any.
The only time I experienced anything closed to that was or is when I pay through POS in say shoprite, the debit comes the next day. That could be due to delay in servers NEGOTIATION between GTBank and the other bank.

The most painful one I experienced was their ATM at Ogba, opposite waec office. Thought withdrew the 5k I wanted to, only for me to find out 2 weeks later that there were 2 100 notes in the withdrawal. Instead of 5k, I had 4.2k. Pained me nor be small

Same thing happened to me yesterday. I was sitting jejely in my office attending to some clients when I go 2 alerts from GT 400 and 200 respectively.

Funny thing is, the last time I touched the phone was when I dropped it on my table when I got to work.

I think the guys handling the mobile transfer should be querried, the bank might not know about this deductions, it might be illegal for all I care cos bankers these days dont have fear.

Thats how one bank's operation staff was busy making deductions from a University account to the tune of millions that cost all the operation staff of his branch their jobs because he used their login id's

Hmmmmmmmm!!! They debitted #400, #600 and then #2600 from my account two days ago. I called them and they gave me the same reason they gave you. That's absolutely wrong of GTB.
