Hello peeps, Just as I posted earlier about posting my interview transcript at the Abuja Consular yesterday, please sit back and read through. BACKGROUND I belong to a youth leadership training organisation that has members in more than 130 countries of the world. Its members are within the age bracket of 18-40 and one of the most anticipated events of the year is the Partnership Summit held annualy in the US which brings members from different countries together where they network, share ideas abouts about various projects being initiated by them in their communities and also play and have fun together during that period. As someone within that age bracket, I registered to attend this year's event and also applied for the US visa to enable me travel to the states. Meanwhile, I want to emphasise strongly to everyone reading this that going to the US should not be seen as a do or die affair and please, DON'T create funny scenarios by lying in your DS-160 form just because you think you are smart because your lying has a way of COMING BACK AT YOU LATER IN LIFE!!! While filling the form, I was stucked at the point where you will be asked if you have a relative in the US. I have a sibling in the US who is a US citizen, some friends that we were to travel together for the event when they saw me filling it, said I should say NO to the question that if I filled YES, that would reduce my chances of getting the visa with the VO. Hmmm. This one na serious wahala ooo!!! I confered with a few people and they kept saying don't declare you have a relative in the US which even made matters worse. After a careful thought of it and what could be the consequence in the event I was not granted a visa, I followed my heart and filled YES to the question by filling her name in the form where applicable. How would you claim to have a sibling who is a citizen in the US tomorrow when you had already claimed not to have one today This is a food for thought!!! To be continued! 3 Likes |

When you have reason, pleaase then lets dialogue. He should register a company and run it for a year just for us visa?! How tedious! I'm getting a headache just imagining it. sugah:.... To be honest am not angry because there so many other advice like the one you gave me not saying I should tell the agent to arrange twins and a wife to go and reapply which will still result to lieing. Am asking for advice because I want to use my real status and am not questioning the advice you gave me and to na Godwin I really appreciate your response. Thanks |

suwas2003:Hardly, at this period! Unless you're qualified for expedited appointment. Lagos is 9th though.... A few more hours, available dates will even move to next and farther day/dates. Lockdown what you can catch now and monitor if you can catch earlier dates and do a rescheduling of appointment (technical oh, and you're allowed to do this only once) later |

Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by sugah: 1:21pm On Jun 23, 2016 |
Pwhitelaw:There is no way you would apply with your real status without being asked about your last status of being married..they already have your records in their database. So changing your status either means more lies or admitting you lied the last time and ask for forgiveness. Iv read about people who admitted to their lies, asked for forgiveness and were granted visa. 2 Likes |

Pwhitelaw: Remember Everything that you or the agent submitted is on your computer record forever. If the think next time that you are contradicting your record then you are in a world of trouble. |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by LadyGuinivere: 1:52pm On Jun 23, 2016 |
Pwhitelaw:How else do u want the solution again? Ok let me make it simple. 1. Wait until your circumstance changes 2. When reapplying, admit that you lied. There's a column that asks you if you have ever attempted to enter the us via fraud or misrepresentation. The answer is yes. 3. Fill your correct details. Please read in between the lines dear child of God. The marriage advice was given in jest. Marrying does not clear the issues u created |

Pwhitelaw:@Tzetzefly, greetings boss. @Pwhitelaw: Since you are not in a hurry, I will advise you take out time and process to right the wrong with the embassy, whatever the subsequent outcome, brave it! I really don't like it when people think only of the NOW and don't factor in the "worst case scenario" assumption when dealing with the embassy, this helps you to stay on course. |

Pwhitelaw:Simply waiting till you get married doesn't fully solve the problem. The Agent filled a fake name as your alleged wife's name on your application.... and then there's the issue of the twins. |

D-Day at the Abuja Consular VO; Good morning, may I have your passport? Me; Good morning and hands passport over to her VO; Why are you travelling to New Jersey? Me; Am travellng to New Jersery to attend the 2016 Partnership Summit of so so so for Young leaders VO; Have you travelled before? Me; No VO; Where do you work? Me; I work with so so so company VO; How much do you earn? Me; I earn so so so thousand naira VO; Are you an officer of the association? Me; Yes VO; what office do you hold in the association? Me; I hold so so so office and just did so so so in my office capacity for the association recently. VO; .... But you are not a youth? Me; No.... The event is for people between the ages of 18-40 which I fall rightly fall into the category VO; Typing for some seconds now.... Suddenly stops and started talking while she hands me over my passport with a pink form. Me; Thanks and takes my leave from her presence. After I left her and was heading home, I saw it as rather unfortunate that a consulate officer does not really know who a youth is or what age bracket constitutes the youthful class which I strongly believed influenced her decision to deny me a visa EXPERIENCE AT THE CONSULATE 1. Granting of visa is at the discretion of a Visa Officer and such discretion is largely influenced by her level of information of the subject of your trip intention. 2. Be specific and straight to the point on your responses. Please don't say what you are not asked just because you think you want to impress the VO. A woman was asked why she wanted to visit the US and hear her response..... Whao! I just want to visit the US to have a nice time and enjoy myself cos I just won a contract that blew my mind! Does that not sound funny to you? Another was asked why he wanted to go to US and I was surprised to hear him eulogising US and stating how much he had loved to visit the country where things works well. They were both denied visa!!! 3. It is much easier for a single person to get a visa than for a married person. Does that not sound strange to you? We live in a society where being married is seen as the major ties that can guarantee you a visa at the US consulate. This belief is the major reason why a lot of singles lies in their applications just because they want a Visa! Being married does not guarantee you a strong tie to your country, as a matter of fact, most of the people that were denied visas in my presence were all married men and women with children. The moment the VO asks you if you are married and you says yes, the next questions are; How many children do you have, what are their ages and lastly, how much do you earn? The fact is, while the VO is asking these questions, he/she is busy doing a quick mental calculation on how your salary can cater for your family needs and also sponsor your trip to the US! What the US considers as ties to a country goes beyond being married, it includes professional ties, Work ties, are you gainfully employed or value of your salary? School ties, are you currently running a school programme that you can't afford to abandon? Social link ties, what's the worth of your socia capital in the society? What kind of social affiliations do you have? These are what they want to see as being your ties to a country and not just being married. My conclusion yesterday was, it is much easier for an unmarried person who earns 100k to get a visa than for a married person with children to get!!! To all the singles in the house, don't let anyone mislead you by saying because you are not married you don't stand a chance, Taiye and Kehinde are twins born on same day, but in reality, the destiny of Taiye is different from that of Kehinde, the fact that some singles were denied visas does not make it a benchmark of granting visas. In my own case, the VO did not even bothered asking me that yeye question because I provided the following ties as a backup in my application. a. Names of all my professional bodies belonged to b. Names of social networks involved in as a member c. The prestigious alumni body of the Pan-Atlantic University where I did my post graduate. d. Detailed chronology of my work career and schools attended. With all these ties of mine here in Nigeria, how would being married alone being the game changer? 4. Lastly, please be very honest with your application because you never can tell, lies you created today can come after you tomorrow. Remember that visa application is a 50-50 situation, it is either you are granted or not and please don't indulge in acts that can jeopardise your chances in future should in case you are denied today!!! FINAL WORDS Granting of visa is at the discretion of a VO, please pray that you don't fall into the hands of a VO that will have a different knowledge about what your intent is but please, be truthful and sincere in your application process. I was denied a visa but I was happy because I was truthful and sincere in what I filled because had it been I lied by concealing my sibling in the US, by now, I will be regretting the action! 13 Likes |
