Brothers, please I need help. 1. Am I qualified for the 18months post-study stay if I only spend the 2nd and last semester of my Masters program in Germany? I have been looking to spend the last semester in France because of my French skills but with the present economy of France and their conditional one year offer, Germany seems a viable option. 2. I learnt French up to A2 and the rest have been personal study but I have a goal to go back to class and reach C1 by March. But since I'll be staying in Germany, German is pretty much important. Is it possible to learn the two langauges at once combined with study without it affecting my grade? Please note that I have no intention of working for the first semester as I am dedicating it to improve my language skills. |

Negro1986:It is never advisable to apply to only one German school, let alone a relatively highly ranked one #Competition I believe you applied to more than FAU, ja? Alles Gute! |

Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 3 by djlaqua91(m): 9:58pm On Jun 25, 2016 |
Unigwestanley: Pele bro, my suggestion is to also include uni-assist schools in your search to widen your scope. I believe many of the available schools are under uni-assist esp. Those with July deadlines. Some schools don't even charge a dime on Uni-assist. Don't limit yourself. All the best |
Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 3 by djlaqua91(m): 10:03pm On Jun 25, 2016 |
Mille: Depends brother if your program is those with multiple locations, it's normally the nations visa of entry used that counts. Eg. If you entered with a german visa then no issue, after grad. You're entitled to the 18months stay thing, renewal etc. If it's a french visa then it will follow french rules. Although since its schengen, during your studies you can move around those EU countries freely for your hustle. NB: from my understanding, please get a second opinion. All the best. |
Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 3 by thesoj: 10:21pm On Jun 25, 2016 |
Eke40seven:Yes, theoretically. Eke40seven:I would say no. It is very possible to hustle feeding and housing money from working tho. With a C$12/hr job and 20hrs/week during the school session, you would make ~C$1,000 a month which is very sufficient to cover all living expenses (people that make less than about C$11k per year are taxed at a very low rate). Hustling for tuition would be very difficult though, but it is possible to work full time during summer and make some savings to cover a fraction of tuition. I would not advise anyone to plan to work to pay all of their tuition; it would be very stressful. Having said this, some grad students get research assistantships and pay little to no tuition and also get stipends. There's a number of people over at the Canada visa thread that have gotten this sort of funding. It is not too difficult to get if you graduated with a 2:1 (and above) and are resilient enough to bombard a whole bunch of professors at different universities with well-crafted emails expressing interest. This post on the Canadian thread describes how one would go about it. This other post on the Canadian thread provides a summary of some of the useful info about going to Canada. You are welcome to mention me if you have any questions about Canada. cc: em3r4ld Btw, @eke40seven, kudos to all you do on this thread. I used to follow it, and it almost got my younger brother to Germany though he got his Canadian visa a week before he was to schedule his interview with the German embassy. This thread is such an amazing resource. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Hello All, Please if someone is issued a student visa to study in Germany but want to visit home(Naija) during the holidays, is there any procedure(s) to undertake? Or just buy your flight ticket and board. I am asking, because i know in some countries there are some procedures to follow. Thanks! |
