It's a great great pain one of Nigeria's earliest and finest heroes goes home. He lived to a grand old age. May his family have the fortitude to bear the loss. 2 Likes |

so by adulterating the name "Nwabueze" as Wabueze you have created a different ethnic group? Ikwerres are yeye people, do this ppl know that others in enugu or anambra also pronounce the name as "Wabueze" in their dialects too but do not write it like that but write in standardized igbo?? 8 Likes 1 Share |

The confusionist, who sowed the seed of Igbophobia on the heart of Ikwerre youths. He wrote the Concubine when he was "Ibo" and it reflected on the novel, as he kept making reference to the great "Ibo". RIP to him. 7 Likes |

Re: Elechi Amadi Is Dead by Ariani: 11:58pm On Jun 29, 2016 |
queencalipso: He wrote the Concubine when he was still Igbo, ie, before the war. After the war, he became Ikwerre, and could not go back to turn the characters in his novel to Ikwerre. So Emenike and Ihuoma remained Ibos, while Elechi Amadi became an Igbophobic Ikwerre man. 7 Likes 1 Share |

MXrep: E dey pain am oooo. Igbos will never stop seeking for inheritance in the oil rich Rivers state and they think the best way is by claiming that ikwerre people are igbos. Pls sorry Mr OKORO we not igbos. |
Re: Elechi Amadi Is Dead by Ariani: 12:08am On Jun 30, 2016 |
lyricalpontiff: Go and sit down. The Concubine had an Igbo touch of greatness in it, as the story line was Igbo, but it's still a learner to the Chinua Achebe's holy trinity, ie, Things Fall apart, Arrows of God, No longer at ease. Elechi the Igbo man was a great writer, Elechi the Ikwerre man had nothing more to offer the world than Igbophobia, and so he fizzled out of relevance. The literature world doesnt respect the ethnic group of an Individual, if Elechi was any better than he was, the world would know and would have offered him due respect. He( Elechi Amadi) had nothing on Achebe. 6 Likes |

Re: Elechi Amadi Is Dead by Ariani: 12:14am On Jun 30, 2016 |
IceMan85: Nnaa, stop disgracing Ndiigbo. The young Elechi that wrote "the Concubine" was an Igbo man, but the old Relechi Ramadi that just died, was not an Igbo man. He was a rabid Igbophobic Ikwerre man who abhored Igbo tag with every cell in his body. He was behind the campaign to separate Ikwerre as a distinct entity from Ndiigbo after the war, he planted the seed of Igbophobia in the hearts of most Ikwerre youths, and he went on to fabricate and doctor the Bini origin history of Ikwerre, which he shamelessly promoted until the day he died. No well informed Igbo man would want Ndiigbo to be associated with anything that has to with Relechi Ramadi. 8 Likes |

Re: Elechi Amadi Is Dead by Ariani: 12:34am On Jun 30, 2016 |
funnydick: Point out one part of my post that is false. The characters in " the concubine" were repeately referred as Ibos by the Young Elechi Amadi, is it not obvious that Elechi considered himself an Ibo, when he was writing that story line? Is it not true that after the war, Elechi Amadi metamorphosed to Relechi Ramadi and was the the cheerleader in the Igbophophic campaign that had since taken root and grown into an Orji tree in Ikwerrreland today? Did Relechi Ramadi not doctor a book where he claimed against all known human rationality and logic, that Ikwerre migrated from Bini and are Bini people? Did Relechi Ramadi not become irrelevant in the literature world after the civil war when he became consumed with Igbophobia and reduced himself to a parochial writer blinded by Igbophobic sentiments? 6 Likes |
