Is Steady Electricity Possible In Nigeria? by mrprezident007(m): 5:40am On Jul 02, 2016 |
With what we have been through as a country, the power sector alone have consumed more money than any other sector, but little or no result have been achieved. I was even hoping that this new FG administration will be different but so far it seems we are going back to 1830 when we had 0MW throughout Nigeria. I had tthis argument with someone on Palmchat but I would like to know what you NLs have to say. Do you think Nigeria can have steady power supply in the next say 10yrs. 9 Likes 3 Shares |

If it's possible, we would have had it... I dare any government to prove me wrong!!! Steady power supply is not possible in Nigeria. Countries where such is possible, have it already! 45 Likes 2 Shares |

it's possible, if the grid gets decentralized or segmented and the customers all get prepaid meters. Some places in PH have 23/7 light. 30 Likes |

Yes, very possible. We've seen smaller countries achieve this, we've also seen bigger countries achieve this.... With a determined, focused and a corruption-free Gov't in place, It's very possible in Nigeria. But with Buhari and his set of saints, It's not possible. 2 Likes |

I grew up in Botswana in the early 90s, it's a small landlocked country which has nothing but cows and diamonds. My dad was a humble Nigerian diplomats and yet the Vice Presidents daughter and 1 were class mates... They are able to manage what little resources they have and provide 24hours power,Water, and good roads and free meals in govt schools In the many years I was there power only went off for 5mins one evening which the govt announced due to maintenance. I weep for my country 75 Likes 4 Shares |

Op, there is nothing impossible in Nigeria, if we want steady electricity by December 31, 2016. It's so possible. The people in authority know what to do. Is it not the same Nigeria that tackled the highly dreaded Ebola virtually without foreign assistance? Nigeria has impressive records among comity of nations, it's just that our successive leaders have made everything look impossible. How many times have you heard other Africans make waves in academics like Nigerians; scoring 5.0 abroad is now a regular thing. Sure you've heard of Prof Philip Emeagwali and other Nigerian scientists making waves. Don't you wonder why Nigeria dominates in the area of Literature and Entertainment? All these examples are to tell you NOTHING is IMPOSSIBLE in NIGERIA. It's only strong willed, transparent and responsible leadership that we need. 11 Likes 2 Shares |

Yes All the problems of Nigeria is because of over centralization. Fashola did say that provision of electricity is not rocket science because in a smaller area, it is easier to troubleshoot and implement. I love his new proposal that north should have a different grid (generating and transmission system), middle belt different, same with SS, SE and SW but I know the King in the North will never allow that 17 Likes 3 Shares |
