And after I got pissed at my banker yesterday, this morning he sent a text to me to send my email so he could send my telex...not quite long, I got a message from Coventry confirming my payment and requesting I send my Postgraduate Diploma Certificate before my CAS is issued to me. Atleast there's hope.

Hello justwise and company I am applying for myself and my spouse. Can I use the account statement of my biological parent or does it have to be in my account or that of my spouse? Also, I'm going To University of Reading. Please what's the maintenance requirement for that (in GBP)? One of the documents indicates 620 and another 840 so I'm confused. Cheers man

Move the whole money into your account and start counting the 28days and remember that if you are going with your spouse that the maintenance money is bigger, read about dependant financial requirements for an uptodate info.

Maintenance money information is on the first page of this thread

To all students who are having trouble because of the fluctuating exchange rate, i think this explains it clearly.

The home office website states that "if you are using overseas currency, we will expect you to show (in writing on your application form) the closing balance in pounds sterling. we use the official exchange rate on the OANDA website. Where your funds are in a currency other than pounds sterling, the amount we consider will be based on the exchange rate for the relevant currency on the date of your application, taken from the rates published on www.oanda.com" source; www.gov.uk (Pages 44&45)

What this means is that the exchange rate that will be used by the home office for the maintenance funds you put in your account for 28 days is the rate as at the date you made the application. Please note that the date of application is the date you made payment online. It is the rate on that particular date that will be used irrespective of if the rate increases before the date of interview.

I think this should give students an idea of what they should work towards.

This caused a debate here about a year ago. What the description said is not actually what is being used. Atleast, for the test cases we saw.
I argued with Justwise about that but the few people in the situation came back successful using the start date of counting as their date of application.

Nevertheless, as this might just be the visa officer allowing it, I am still not endorsing it. Just giving people hope and possibly, situational options.
As an advice, to use the start date of counting, print that date's result on the oanda CC and submit it with the application. To explain further, if you started counting on 1st June, go to oando CC, chose 1st June as the date and print the currency conversion result page.

Spikes c, to be honest I have been trying to recall how I did mine years back and I do not think I used the method Home office recommended. I am very sure I never used the date of application. I think I used the date I put it in the account.

Well, I will suggest students should go with what you said or whatever the international department of their school recommends.

Guys, please don't be angry that am taking you guys back. I still want to understand the 28days counting rule. Please come to my rescue. Now this is how the lil ish goes. As at a month or two months back,I had the entire maintenance and tuition in my dad's account intact. Then as at 17th of this month, tuition had been deducted including bank charges @ the rate of 285. Now my questions are:
1. Will it be right to have started counting the 28days from that period?
2. Do I have to start counting presently with the new rate of 377?
3. What's the way forward please.
4. I need to send my statement of account to get my CAS, do I use d cbn rate to calculate the remaining tuition or I use Oanda.com.
Please help out. Sorry am dragging you guys back.

Coventry University is a tier 4 sponsor, Coventry University College is only a business/brand name.... The CAS will be from Coventry University College using Coventry University's tier4 sponsor license number.... I came to the UK on a tier 4 visa based on the CAS I got from Coventry University College. When you get here you use the same facilities (library etc) as Coventry University students with just a few limitations.

OlowoB:

Estateallen, I think you need to ask him to confirm Coventry university college status. The last time I checked, the college is not a tier 4 sponsor.

Coventry university is a tier 4 sponsor but not Coventry university college (the last time I checked, I did not find their name).

Now here comes the question? What will be written on his CAS? I know the certificate that will be given is Coventry university but is the college accredited? He needs to confirm very well.

Cheers.

Hello pals,
can anyone advise on the best and cheapest way to pay for IHS and visa application fee.
I also want to find out if I can pay my application fee from the money in my account after I have printed my bank statement. (Note I only have money for my tuition fee and maintenance fee in my account, no excess that could be up to the application and IHS fee)

Hello sir, you cannot take out of the money you have kept in the bank for 28 days for your maintenance and balance of school fees except if the money is in surplus of the required funds.

If for example, the money you require for both maintenance and school fees = 100k and you have kept exactly this same amount in the bank for 28 days, do not let the money go below this amount until you have been given the visa. If the money is more than 100k in your account, you can use the excess of the 100k for whatever you feel like but it must not go below the required funds.

The home office will still likely check the amount in the account after going for your interview, so do not think that once you print out the statement, you can then move the funds away (the 15 working days for visa processing is to check that your documents are correct). I will strongly advice you not to touch or let the money go below the required funds until you have been given the visa.

The rule is, it is better to be safe than sorry.

Hello everyone,
Please I need help with regards to paying tuition fee. I got an offer for oct in a uk uni and paid for my tuition using the form A in the first week of june at the government rate but it bounced back after two weeks and the bank (first bank) said its cos the money is more than $10,000, (I paid the tuition fees in full) that it should have been splited in two as u can't process more than $10,000 at a go. I had to do the transaction again the following week it but it turned out to be the week the flexible exchange rate was introduced, now the bank said they are not processing till they get a go ahead from cbn or so.. my question is;
Is there anyone also in this situation and what are you doing about it?
Does this also mean I have to pay the fees using the parallel rate which is abt #500 or is there any way the bank can intervene with regards to paying tuition fees? I dont really understand how this rate thing works anymore since the flexible rate was introduced and I need to pay my fees urgently

please someone should come to my aid before I get high bp cos of this matter sad

Hello House,
Please help me answer the ffg questions;

1) I will be travelling to the UK in Sept with my partner for study purpose( I am the main applicant). My passport expires Dec 2016 while that of my partner won't expire until April, 2017. My question is- Do we have to renew his own alongside mine before visa will be issued?

2) A friend told me we may not have to submit a statement for my maintenance if my Aunt who has been living in the UK for more than 10 yrs could write a letter indicating she would cater for my maintenance. Pls, is this possible? How else can one go about this?
N.B: I had a 50% tuition fee scholarship. BTW we would like to connect with guys going to/ living in Sheffield.

Thanks.
Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by Bourne007(m): 9:21pm On Jul 03, 2016
1) You both have valid travel passports so you good to apply for your visas. Once in UK, you will be issued a Residence permit card and you can always renew your passports at the naija embassy

2) Using your aunt's statement is a no no. If you have read previous comments about maintenance requirements, it clearly states that statements used must be in the main applicant's name or parents/legal guardian (with proof)

Cheers

1. No only you need to renew your passport at Nigerian embassy in London if you have your visa already else you need to renew it before applying for visa.

2. No your aunt can't sponsor you and a letter from her will not make any difference

Your fees will be paid using the bank rate and the embassy uses the same rate as well to calculate your maintenance money.
