Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by kogistar: 3:16pm On Jul 03, 2016
EMMAACHILE:

No. It's impossible. Even 3.2m cannot do it. You need a minimum of a 4m pan dish
ok, but have u tried hotbird in lokoja with 2.4m?

It's not possible. Even 3m dishes get only few tps under hotbird. My own is 3.2m local pan dish with few tps and I know of Alex Electronics with a 3.5m local pan dish with same few tps.

To enjoy hotbird, you must have at least a 4m pan dish and if possible a foreign one to make it possible.

What do you really want under hotbird? Other satellites like 34.5w and 68.5e will cover sports and Starsat 5e, 16e and 28.2e, 7w will do for other categories.

Alternatives I see are as follows
a. 2 x 1m Startimes dish with lnb=4000 x 2. Fixed to enjoy all stations under 5e, 16e and 28.2e here irrespective of Jack position

b. 2.4m dish for all satellites with Jack.

BIG NEWS FROM GLOW TV: Glow TV, now under new ownership, will continue to broadcast on its existing media platforms; DStv, OpenView HD and StarSat as from 01 July 2016. The Nismedia Group, based in Centurion, has acquired the sole rights and interests to Glow TV and the channel will continue to broadcast uninterrupted. Nazeer Noormohamed, head of the Nismedia Group, which owns amongst others a number of newspaper publications, explained that the decision to buy the channel came about as a result of confidence in the brand. “I believe that Glow TV has great potential and can continue to impact positively on the South African market. As such we approached Urban Brew Studios to acquire the channel from them. Our entry into the television sector will offer Nismedia a new and exciting national and international footprint.” Urban Brew CEO, Trish Taylor said, “Our initial decision to discontinue the channel was not an easy one, so we’re delighted that the loyal Glow viewers will still be able to watch their favourite entertainment channel and the shows they’ve come to love.” During the month of July 2016 Glow TV will broadcast existing content and repeats of popular shows. As from August exciting new content will be introduced onto the eastern- inspired channel. Catch Glow on DStv (channel 167), OpenView HD (channel 108) and StarSat (on channel 570).

Please I will like to know if there is any free to air satellite network which shows football matches particularly epl matches and some other leagues and maybe few stations that shows movies. I will like to know the cost of setting it up and I don't mind employing an installer here to help me set it up.
Tho I learnt there is one satellite that has bein sports, but am in lagos and I understand it doesn't work in lagos.
Kindly let me know details about the recommended satellite and cost of setting it up.
Thanks in advance.
