@all, pls did you shop for baby clothing in nigeria beore travelling or you did your shoping in the U.S cos I've not even bought pin.

Babe as simple as ds question be e take style hard small. Y? Well dollar is one, prefernece is another, quality is third.

A) depends on ur pocket in terms of purchase and shipping. Smtyms even if the cloth cheap the cost of excess luggage or shipping will equate buying in naija especially wt this dollar madness.

B)the quality we seek over there is present as well in naija plus even over there sometimes unless u go to d big stores, d quality can also b very light. Eg babies r us, dillards, macys compared to ross, walmart, burlington.

C) preference is personal. I did all my shopping for both kids in Yankee but in truth it was bcz i wanted to and not bcz of any other reason. Drs no hard and fast rule. Even if u buy d cloth hia u can pick thr best quality, maybe even cheaper than t would have cost u over there.

[nice one please where. Can I buy the spoon.quote author=firsttymum post=47040822]I'm recommending a hot food safe spoon while we shop for our babies... Yer Yer for those who will say it's not for this thread. Most people have looked for it in naija and can't find. So I said lemme share here make una buy.

So I bought this nuby spoon for my baby during my last missionary journey. People call it magic spoon. When I'm feeding my baby it fascinates people... When d food is too hot it turns white when's it's warm but not good enough for his mouth is turns pale ( depends on d colour of d spoon) and so on. So I recommend it especially for workaholics or shld I say busy mums and or hygiene freaks like me ( covers face) At least the helper knows the spoon shldnt change color too much before putting that food in d baby's mouth.

I'm a hygiene freak. I don't support the Househelp putting d food in her mouth before giving my baby or any of those disgusting things. I personally and even my hubby can't chew and give our baby... It disgusts me ( most of us put our mouth down there during daddy and mummy tingy) the thing just irritates me jare.[/quote]

That's how u didn't share ur experience o... Wow. I jus had goosebumps.. As per similarities Btw our stories...
Erm it's means pregnancy is loading for u.

No b say I no wan share o. I typed d long epistle twice but when I was ready to send, natin! Na so I vex, no type again. Mk I giv summary.
I finali didn't  port as my friend(Aunty, God bless U plenti) and her family refused my porting so I stayed wit dem in Fl. it was wonderful! Used WBMC. Mehn, hosp stay alone for 2days CS was 6k for int'l pts and if I rem well 9k for 3days(paper no dey wit me now), which was way different from d quote given to my beloved Aunty by my Dr who's wit dem. Had no idea till we got dia on d D Day and dey gave us dia quotes for vd & cs for int'l pts. When d Vd became Em/C/S, if I  tell u say i no tire dat day, i lie big lie.  But God being God, it all ended in praise. Had LO on Nov 10. The bills weren't too pocket friendly, had to request for whoever was incharge. Notin came out of it as she said those wia d discounted prices& dat if d bill passed hosp stay b4 pay, wud pay approx $21k (d undiscounted bill). The tin no laf me at al. Paid up though. My dr was jus very funny. Nah me dey para for discharge by day 2 o. Discharged me on day 3 morning(48hrs) &wrote I shud b allowed to leave by 6pm.
D surprising thing was LO wtd 2.9kg, LOA, no cord round his neck, etc. I suspect impacted rectum, no mayb chronic constipation (if there's anytn lik dat) was d culprit as normal bowel movement even b4 preggie wz very minimal. He had caput at birth so i gues as contractions wia pushing him down, d poo was pushing him up& his FHR was dropping wit contractions. If na 9ja, i'd hav bn given dulcolax supp or d likes prior to den.  When I finali "depooped" myself, no b small mata atal.

Anyways, Emergency anaest gav bill of $2750. Discounted to $1450 dat if I had prepaid wud hav bn $850,
Obgyn $3250+ tests. Redid all.
Neonatal $700
Circum $245
Paed$530( 2 Hosp visits& LO disch+1st visit for Hb in her clinic+ 6wks visit Hb given)
Hosp pathology $150 said it was for routine placenta check, hadn't heard dat one on NL b4 o abi na one chance?
LO documentation wz same. Did 9ja pport in DC.

Well, dazzit in a nutshell. Details wud hav made d post longer.
Preg loading. Being "careful" didnt work. EDD February

Reporting live from Jet blue airways 35k ft above sea level from JFK to Houston....
Flew Airfrance from Lagos yesterday, no one asked for fitness to fly, POE was uneventful and my bags were not checked at agriculture.
Had 40 mins delay at France and was scared I would miss my 1.50pm flight to HOU. Thank God everything went well, am still cruising the flight now..
Will share my story in full when I settle in houston...

Apologies for not sharing the full story earlier....I have been trying to acclimatize.....so back to the story
Myself and DH got to the airport around 8pm, we had to wait for some mins to allow the KLM passengers check-in...passed through the NDLEA peeps to search the boxes...I had a box with foodstuff and another with clothes etc...
Finally we were set to leave at around past 11pm....the economy seats were not really spacious .....well fast forward to Paris..
We had about 2 hours stop over..flight was delayed for about 30mins...finally left at 8.50am ...while waiting to board I was having some pains and praying nothing should go wrong while still in Paris or on board to US...
Landed at JFK at about 11 am. ...fortunately one of the officials passed me to the front line ...in less than 10 mins I was with the CBP officer..
CBP officer: why are you here?
Me: to give birth
CBP: Why the US?
Me: need better medical care for my baby...
CBP: How much do you have with you?
Me: 4k dollars Cash with about 7k in cards
CBP: you declare you have food items; what are they?
Me: yam flour, cassava flour etc
CBP: Any specialist doc you are seeing
Me: yea, have an appointment with a doc on Tuesday. .showed him the appointment letter
CBP: excuse me, I will be back in few mins
Me and hubby were waiting on the counter and hoping there will be no secondary inspection cos we had 2 hours to catch the next flight...
After 3 mains, CBP officer returned...
CBP: your fingers pls...face up.....stamped us in till Dec 31st
Na so we Waka enter the US oooo. At agriculture, the guy looked at my big Belle. ..seems you are ready to pop...all d best...collect our card ...bye bye
Nothing was checked. ..na so my iru, ogbono, fish, yam flour, cassava flour, Maggi etc pass enter US ooo
Tok the air train to terminal 5 and checked in Jet blue flight to Houston...
It was a very tiring trip but I thank God everything went well...
Yesterday I was having some pains...DH quickly called the hospital and I was told to come see the ER doc.got there in abt 10 mins. ..the nurse checked me and said everything was okay and I should go home...
Chilling Independence day at home and waiting for my appointment tomorrow with Dr Amajoh...
Sorry for the epistle....lol

Congrats Madam, However, next time, try and reach the doctor's office and not the hospital. Going to the ER may have fetched you a bill of Usd 1k ...just like that, watch out for the bill for that visit. However, if your concern is really serious, do not hesitate to go to the ER as your health is more important than money.

Just found out I'm preggie last week, it really been disturbing for me as it wasn't planned, but I thank God. My EDD is mid December and I have alot to do.

Quick question, I haven't been taking prenatal vitamins till last week and I'm past my 1st trimester, hope my baby will be okay. Also I started dieting like 3weeks ago, was just on fruits for 2weeks (I stopped the day I found out) hope it won't pose any side effects to my baby.

I have done 3 scans since I found out last week and all three say my baby is developing fine, also I have discussed with my gynaecologist and he says it will be fine but I'm still worried.

Now I'm on to preps, any info on cheap ticket to California, will be travelling late November. I would have loved to use Dr M since he is cheaper but I will be staying in Apple Valley in San Bernardino and it's about 2hours away. So I will just stick with my ob/gyn and hospital that I used last year (total bill was 5,500 for normal delivery).

Please if anyone has info on cheap tickets, please holla, I want to buy my ticket next week.

My dear, I will also be due by mid December, why rush buying tickets now, I was advised to wait till around september,by then, summer rush would be over and tickets will be cheaper and promos available.

Thanks.

Hi once again, since we didn't declare she was pregnant during our interview can she travel alone now for the vacation then come back before i join her on the baby birth trip around october provided the letter of change of intent comes with a favorable response? Also i need to ask her chances at the POE considering her baby bump should be around 22weeks at the time I want her to go for the vacation//// I'll appreciate your advices.

Would that not be too stressful for her?. I would suggest you just send the letter of change of intent, pray and whatever the outcome may be, accept it as the will of God. It is not a do or die thing.

But she'll be emotionally traumatized. If she's turned back? And guess what? Waste of money
If he can afford her flight and a short vacation it's totally worth it. Change of intent is a letter u send to d embassy and u get a generic response but u show to the cbp.. At his discretion can do and undo now the emotional trauma they might put her through is what I call stressful.

It's practically a clear case of misrepresentation... Those people don't hear "is not like that sir" or "lemme esplain sir" or "pity her condition sir"

Omoba88 if u can afford it, do the safest and surest thing. Let her go for a short vacation. Some locations have extremely cheap tickets right now.
It's different if she wasn't pregnant at d time of interview (that one dey still even send people back).
