Mathematics and Accounting are two different areas.
This looks easy but it is not because everyone will arrive at a different answer…
A lady bought goods worth ₦200 and paid the shopkeeper with a ₦1000 Note.
The Shopkeeper had no change on him so he went to another Shopkeeper John his neighbour and collected ₦1000 change in ₦200 denominations, with which he settled the lady and she left.
A little while later, John came back angrily after he discovered the ₦1000 note he was given by the shopkeeper was fake, and demanded a replacement.
To avoid trouble, the shopkeeper had to give John another ₦1000 and destroyed the counterfeit which had no real value.
So Question for the geniuses…
How much has the Shopkeeper lost in total?
A. ₦1200
B. ₦2000
C. ₦1000
D. ₦1800
E. ₦2200
F. None Of The Above

None of the above

because the shopkeeper actually lost 800 naira in total.
He has d 200 naira the lady paid, subtract it from what he just gave to his neighbor.

Assuming Initially he had 3000 before the Customer arrive and he had change the customer want. He will have 3200 after transaction, where 1000 is a bad money and 200 is money for the goods. So when u tear the bad money u get 2200 and when u use the 200 to replace the goods u have 2000 naira left. So U only Lost 1 thousand.

Or put like these he didn't come with any money and u did not look for any change, All u did is give him goods and money worth 1k

800naira plus 200naira worth of goods. Imagine the incident without involving the other shop owner. It can also be looked at from this angle, the customer did not come with money, jus came to collect money and goods. Shikena

2000..

He was given 1000 and gave out change 800, The 1000 is bad and 800 naira is gone with customer . So he lost 1800 in financial exchange . If added the 200 naira worth of goods the customer took along, we should have a debit of 2000 naira.

Bad debt-1000
Misc- expenses-800
Bad\lost goods-200
=
2000

1800 in cash plus 200 naira worth of goods making a total of 2000 naira.

On a second thought, the shopkeeper became N1000 richer when he collected the money from John.
By returning the same value to John, he got back to his initial baseline level.

For no value, he gave out N800 to the lady plus N200 worth of goods; making a total loss of N1000.

The Answer is N1000 - F (None of the above)

Disregard every transaction In this story.

Picking out the money part (He destroyed the counterfeit money and gave out his own 1000)

It only commonsensical he lost 1k.

800 worth of stress, 200 worth of lost goods. What a bad day for him.

Too many illiterates here...

The shop keeper lost a total of 1,000 naira to the lady plus the additional 1,000 naira he settled John back minus the 200 naira left after he balanced the lady 800 naira change

Thus we have

1,000 + 1,000 - 200

= 1,800 naira total loss.
