10. 2016: In the race to find alien life, China is clawing ahead. The country has just put the final piece into place to complete what till be the biggest radio telescope in the world. The telescope will be used to explore space and help in the hunt for extraterrestrial life.

The Five-hundred-metre Aperture Spherical Telescope, or FAST, is the size of 30 football fields and has been hewed out of a mountain in the poor southwestern province of Guizhou. For comparison, the largest radio telescope in Europe is 100 metres (328 feet), a fifth of the size of FAST. Cost 1.2-billion yuan ($180 million/£135 million).

Radio telescopes collect radio waves from space. The giant dish reflects the waves and focusses them onto antennae. Because it is so large it will be used to detect the weakest signals. The wider the telescope, the more radio waves it will collect.

I was expecting to hear this part, without this, the list is incomplete, u are truelly an explorer bro, china has been pulling weight technologically of recent, they are trying to give US a run for their reputation, but I hope adequate compensation had been made to the villagers that resides around the site, because most of them are complaining .

Tnx bro, maybe the villagers are complaining because of the fact that they don't want to host the aliens. If this particular facility should succeed locating the aliens, the aliens will trace the source of the signal to the village. Dem they fear, my thinking though
