Mamas please i need your help!!! My ds is one week old and before we left the hospital, two doctors came to check him for traces of jaundice and they said he doesn't have it. But before we left, i noticed his eyes are a bit yellow. I insisted that he should be checked but everyone around said if he has jaundice it'll show in his skin. My mum got some herbs to use to wash his skin yesterday. She said it will clear the jaundice if he truly has it. She wanted to give him to drink but i and dh refused. This morning i noticed if i touch his skin and remove my hand, it'll be yellow. Should i take him to the hospital for test and treatment? Mum doesn't want me to. Said the herbs is better. This is my first child and i don't want to make mistakes. I just feel so bad that he's not okay |

mitchyy: Take him back to the hospital ASAP and insist on seeing a peadrictrian. Herbs for babies in my own opinion is a no-no. Their tiny organs are too fragile for these concoctions. If only people know that these herbs are sometimrs responsible for the high mortality rate/unexplained deaths in babies. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Maureensylvia, it's Sebamed children's shampoo. Pls cut the hair completely. Mummy Zino ahnie, do you hav someone you can leave her with for some days? Say your mum. I think that will help. I think it may be quite difficult to stop them now they are much grown than when they were smaller. |

mitchyy: Not sure what hospital you have taken him to but I have major bias against private hospitals in some instances.... take him to government hospital the likes of general hospital or LUTH . Whatever their shortcomings They still have a larger variety of specialists on hand and have a greater range of experiences. Good luck. All will be well. 1 Like |

maureensylvia: this is the shampoo i am referring to. no, 4 months is not too early. most muslims shave off their baby's hair with razor blade before the child is named, so 4 months is not too early - take him to a barbing salon.

mitchyy:Good, our mothers r trying their best but we have to let them know that most of their styles no longer work. I stood my ground when my MIL wants to be applying different things on my baby's skin and I refused when she wanted to give him agbo. Mothers understand their baby more than anybody. |

Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by helovesme(f): 7:09pm On Jul 07, 2016 |
ginababy: is there any reason why you introduced formula in the first place? what is the reason why you want to stop now? i am asking these two questions because if the reason why you introduced formula was due to poor health (for example), are you much better now? does your milk flow well? yes, its possible to stop formula and stick to EBF and vice versa. you know when your baby is full when: 1)you remove your nipple/bottle and he does'nt cry 2)he sleeps off after sucking 3)he removes his mouth from your nipple/bottle 4)he doesnt suck even when the bottle/nipple is in his mouth 5)he gets distracted by light, sound, etc 6)he is all smiles, playful and engaging after a meal 10 Likes |

sayoddy:Ur D's can tk d immunization next week Tuesday. It Won't be late at all. How do I explain, The time btwn Penta 2 and penta3 shld be AT LEAST 4 wks apart. Meaning its safer to even take it at 15th week(like in ur D's case) than taking it earlier than the 14th week. Hope u undstd. 1 Like |

helovesme: Formula was introduced due to lack of bm during d first 5days. + baby turned to drop weight. During our last weight check he drastically bounced back. I just don't like doing effect of formula on him(strong poop). |
Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by soonest(f): 7:55pm On Jul 07, 2016 |
Mitchyy, your baby will be fine. If d paed has looked at him and says no jaundice, I don't think there should be any prob. Breastfeed him more, d more he poos out dat yellow egusi like pooh, d more d bilirubin clears out from his system. Glucose water and early morning sunlight works too. Finally mothers know best. If seeking 2nd opinion will put your mind @ rest pls do. Cheers 2 Likes |

@ginababy, if u r sure ur supply is sufficient now you can stop d formula. Note that you will hv to feed more often or follow his cue, formula is more filling than bm |
Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by helovesme(f): 8:14pm On Jul 07, 2016 |
ginababy: If his poo is too thick, then you need to change the constituency of the formula. I always go a scoop less than the recommended quantity. You also need to give him plain water to drink as this will prevent constipation. 1 Like |

mitchyy: I don't know about Ibeju-Lekki, but in Lekki Phase 1, Lifeline Children's hospital is good. And if that is out of your pocket, then General Hospital Lagos Island is just okay. They are not close by to you but if you need to go to the hospital, then go. |
