You can also fire those grenades manually by the nr. Which makes them function just like any other smoke grenade. No info in that pic that indicates it had a laser pointing at it.

chkil:

this is a traditionnal smoke screen for tank

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nk7CfD0m8EA

or this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TODr5NKNuCg

but what we see in my pic is a Countermeasures anti-FLIR smoke grenades a part of the SHTORA-1 Active Defense System

the shtora1 system have 3 part a Laser illumination sensors , a EO interference emitters and the anti-FLIR smoke grenades .

on the pic below another part of the shtora system (EO interference emitters OTShU-1-7 ) on algerian T 90 SA and the other part of the Shtora system

Nice strikes
BUT, i wonder why the Nigeria armed forces don't follow these raids up with massive helicopter borne QRF troop insertions and interdiction
For HVT capture and for Intelligence mining....

While precision bombing is good;pleeeease, cluster bomb the fu... out of those rag-heads

I absolutely love the videos. This means, the photos i earlier shared are from this operation. The Beechraft is doing tight efficient job, and from the ISR video it is obvious the recon pod is from one of the newly installed pods on the new Beechrafts.

I don't think that's feasible, considering the distance and target importance. A well directed strike from a fighter jet and follow-on confirmation from a loitering ISR asset is substantial.

I just can't wait for NAF JF-17s to come in, my hope is they come with "Targeting Pods" for better more precise boko decimation.

To the contrary Oga henry.

I actually think it's very feasible.

We have to start thinking outside the box.

Well-fortified airfield FOB's stationed equi-distant from BHT hotspots with Tucanos, transport helicopters and QRF regiments will serve this purpose well.

This also shortens reaction time for Nigerian army firebases on the country's borders.

The sad loss of life in Niger republic of 30 Nigerien soldiers and 2 Nigerian soldiers could easily have been avoided...

Eyes in the sky with ISR is useful, but at a point, you will require boots on ground for clean up...Shikena

I disagree bruv. Wait..... Didn't you say you didn't care about the Tucano? ...... LMAO!!

The way air operations are currently structured makes a lot of sense to me, and don't see why we should change it. For the missions carried out by the F-7s, Helicopters aren't actually required. This isn't CAS.

The Air Force doesn't at this point need to stretch it's already stretched assets, and i do not believe the helicopters or "hypothetical Tucanos" can be adequately protected. At this stage, the situation on the ground is still fluid and cannot be forecast.

Nigerian troops were stationed just 25km from the target area, so mop up photos should in a couple of days be released by the Army.

What we need at this point is a modern aircraft like the JF-17 which can carry upto 9 MK-83 bombs, and has 2 times the range of the F-7.

today unfortunately joining the SANDF is mostly seen as inferior/Frowned upon....Its kind of a "he was to dumb/poor for University that's why he/she joined the military" story....I also feel servicemen and women don't get the same respect from the public they use to.

Same here in Nigeria although "self inflicted" by past years of military rule
When I wanted to follow my grandad's profession (NA major) I met stiff resistance to the extent my mum stayed up late to pray I change my mind

I'm talking about any photo showing a fully kitted KDF commando wearing his FAST helmet. Do you have any photo, something similar to these Nigerian commandos?

I'm not talking about Eid photos.
I've never seen any KDF comando wearing fast helmet, that pic posted by Africaken254 is first ever seen thou his no wearing it... The special forces have been reinventing/upgrading themselves over a couple of years behind the scenes its not strange to see them with new acessories that we din know they had every once in a while...

Usually they use regular chinies made combat helmets,

hold that thought. I think the FAST helmet were brought by US-airforce who are still in the country holding joint exercise to operationalise kenyas airforce rapid deployment force to be able to rescure their own airmen in enemy teritorry

the is a strong, lightweight net system which work in tandem as the first layer of armour .it works by which disrupts the shaped charge of the warhead by either crushing it, preventing optimal detonation from occurring, or by damaging the fuzing mechanism, preventing detonation outright.it is also light weight , easy install and uninstall when damaged compare to slatted armour

Yes, the problem is that there is no Martin Luther King for today... only politicians who win power through ensuring that there are poor/angry people who vote for them
