I like to think this is a good move. But eh, it's a matter of security. It depends on if they can adequately contain the Boko Haram menace, because this will be a good chance for the Boko Haram to hit at Nigeria. Believe you me, Biafra is only United because they want to break out of Nigeria. If they succeed, civil wars will eventually erupt there. Well informed Ibos would understand why. |

I wish this were true, maybe then the North would go its own way or at least advocate for full federalism. Sadly I fear this is a hoax, no serious news outlet is reporting this story. The OP didn't even post a map that pinpoints Lake Chad, why show us Kaduna? Sloppy work OP. Try harder next time. Mods, this is clickbait. 1 Like 1 Share |

LOL. Let's see sha. The regolith is thicker on the Chadian sector of the basin that was a huge reason oil was only found in the Chadian sector. And also, the chad basin slopes into the Chadian sector. Former R&D at NNPC I've spoken to have said there is nothing on the Nigeria sector, now Kachikwu says they will soon start drilling. In fact when I was a student Exxon Mobil staffs came around for UAP and said there is nothing there, a guy that was on the team that discovered crude on the Chadian sector said there is no crude there (in the Nigerian sector). The truth about the chad basin is that intracratonic sag basins are NEVER prolific producers of crude oil, unless the chad basin has morphed into a frontier basin after some 3decades of exploration. All I can say to Kachikwu is "Drill baby, drill". After 4 or 5 dry wells, eye go clear. |

Mackson01: Hahahaha!!! Awon eleyi ti goh sha. Which oil well are they drilling at Lake Chad? Have they discovered it in commercial quantity after years of wasting tax payers' resources on prospecting? Common sense should tell you that this junk here is just another cheap ploy by the deceitful APC government to toy with the emotions of the NDA. |

wachakuta:Nothing will clear, moreover they will get just 13% which will be lesser than what state like Abia is getting. I will be waiting to see them cry resource control even as boko militants will start their mayhem. I think the east gain the more with a huge untapped gas and crude untounched. Both Niger delta and igbos will Still share more than the so called lake chad oil. I think Nigeria generally loose from this. Lake chad basin oil deposit is not even a quarter of Anamabra oil fields. Confuciusng: LOL at dry holes. Funny enough, all the best Geophysicists in the world have a handful of dry holes in their resume. They carefully fail to mention them. They only brag about discoveries. On a more serious note, the statement "there is no oil in the Nigerian sector" is wrong. What you should say is "until" oil is discovered. You cannot say for a fact that there is no oil. With 5D seismic and all the techy advancements, it won't be long before pesin go hit pay. Anyway, the real question is why would a government that wants to diversify the economy, decide to explore for OIL? Same ol story. Depending on oil and hope prices come back up. This govt get any plan B at all? Anyway |

Speaking of oil discoveries, I know there is one Ogo oil field in that Badagry/Dahomey basin, I don't know how far with that http://www.forbes.com/sites/christopherhelman/2014/01/08/the-10-biggest-oil-and-gas-discoveries-of-2013/#73e82bd97f4b http://www.offshore-mag.com/articles/2015/12/lekoil-set-to-lift-stake-in-ogo-offshore-nigeria.html Anyway, all these things aren't things we need to hoff pynt about because it's been more of a curse than a blessing There are lots of other resources wasting all over the country.... And besides, Agric, tech and manufacturing look more promising 1 Like |

wachakuta:Now perhaps they may start liking the idea of resource control, which actually will force just about every state in the country to become more productive (actually profitable). It has been said that there is no state in Nigeria that does not have resources capable of making it productive/viable. |

pacino26:Many non-Deltans who lost their lives to liberate the delta during the civil war when Biafra included them in their republic were Nigerians, whose blood consist only of oil. They dropped from Mars. Don't you think so? |
