This posting is not informative enough, coming from a child of two specialist doctors! 1. What was the drug he asked for? 2.what was the "better" one given to you? By your background you are not an unlearned, so you couldn't have collected that drug from him except you have a slight conviction 3. What was the urgency status at the point of purchase? I am sure your parents will have sued the pharmacist if they were convinced there was malpractice! I suspect your posting is just a propaganda in the superiority fight among the health professionals!!!

A pharmacist can actually change your prescription or refer you back to your GP if need be.

Point of correction, a pharmacist is not trained to offer alternative. That's the job of a Doctor. There is a reason why a Doctor prescribes a particular drug among many other options; judging from his knowledge of medicine upon history and clinical signs presented. A pharmacist job is to dispense drugs in accordance with Doctors prescription.

No body in the health care sector should know more than pharmacists when it comes to drugs.They produce it and they understand than the prescribers,they actually correct and advice the doctors.They save many lives by so doing. OGA, pharmacists are trained to prescribe and dispense drugs.. we even deal in clinical health and drug manufacturing, Please make research before asking questions that'll cause unrest....this is a fault from both sides, the pharmacist didn't have prior knowledge of the patients history and pharmacological reaction with drugs, and patientsshould read the instructions leaflets in drug packs before taking them.. IT'S VERY IMPORTANT! THAT'S WHY THEY'RE ALWAYS INCLUDED!

A pharmacist can change your prescription if he feels the side effect of the drug outweighs the benefit, he can refuse to fill your prescription if he feels it's out of order or. He can modify it. To suit the. Peculiarity of the patients condition.

This person is an illiterate photographer. We still ve Drs. Who could make more fatal mistakes than this. A pharmacist is trained to countercheck a doctor's prescription and not jst to follow instructions sheepishly. If the particular drug u came for is nt available the pharmacist could offer an alternative which u could either accept or reject so shut ur buccal cavity n stop fallacy of generalization.

The average lay person never bothers to know the name of the drugs he is taking.

it was a pharmacist that was finally able to give me the right drug for my condition after many years, I visited three hospitals and was even given an injection directly into the vein on the back of my palm, all to no avail, all it took was a syrup bottle prescribed by the pharmacist, not saying doctors are bad,but some doctors just don't know how to think outside the box,especially if the symptoms don't correlate with text book
