A group under the aegis of Oil Producing Area Association of Nigeria, OPAAN, yesterday warned against plans to relocate the Maritime University from its present place, Okerenkoko to Ibusa, saying that such would incite the oil communities and the Niger Delta as a region against President Muhammadu Buhari and his government.

The group also urged the President to caution his aides or lieutenants against making what it described as insensitive statements capable of causing more problems for him especially against the backdrop that he was in search of lasting peace in the troubled region which has not seen peace with the emergence of Niger Delta Avengers.
In a statement signed yesterday by OPAAN’s National Secretary, Chief Chris Obiuwevbi and National Secretary, Dr. Alfred Mulade, the group noted that nowhere in the world where Naval institutions were established far inland.
This is just as it said that Schooling facilities for the children of officers and men were usually co-located or in close proximity and that in these two cases, they were convinced that mischief makers close to the President were using the existing security situation in the country to undermine the genuine intentions of your administration adding, that Peace in the Niger Delta and indeed, Nigeria would be better achieved in the environment of justice and fair play and arising from sound judgement.

ibusa is still delta state. So what is wrong with moving it from okerenkoko in delta state to ibusa in same delta state? Are they both not same Niger Delta and delta state? Must everything be located in Ijaw land to be tag Niger Delta project? If Ijaws are not careful, they will make other ethnc group in niger Delta to hate them and dissociate from them.

if feasibility shows it is better located in Ibusa or any other region within Niger Delta, i dont see anything wrong with it.
