I don't think it is about being quacks.

As an asthma patient that smokes, I met a good pharmacist, he prescribed some drugs for me, but out of fear( I no de use anything about asthma drugs play,because any mistake na death for me). I had to ask my doctor and I was told that I can't be taking an antibiotics everyday for 2weeks.

So, those pharmacists just claim to be demi gods, they always claim to know too well even when they are not doctors.

This posting is not informative enough, coming from a child of two specialist doctors! 1. What was the drug he asked for? 2.what was the "better" one given to you? By your background you are not an unlearned, so you couldn't have collected that drug from him except you have a slight conviction 3. What was the urgency status at the point of purchase? I am sure your parents will have sued the pharmacist if they were convinced there was malpractice! I suspect your posting is just a propaganda in the superiority fight among the health professionals!!!

Dont mind him, All I see here is a guy advertising his parents private hospital. Am sure the pharmacist gave him same drug he's been using, probably different brand (company) name this time.

OGA, pharmacists are trained to prescribe and dispense drugs.. we even deal in clinical health and drug manufacturing, Please make research before asking questions that'll cause unrest....this is a fault from both sides, the pharmacist didn't have prior knowledge of the patients history and pharmacological reaction with drugs, and patientsshould read the instructions leaflets in drug packs before taking them.. IT'S VERY IMPORTANT! THAT'S WHY THEY'RE ALWAYS INCLUDED!

As if we don't read about avoidable mistakes made by the Docs too. The intent of the patient is clear, you belong to one side courtesy of your parents and because of the long time rivalry, you are helping in maligning others. So, those avoidable mistakes made by Docs happened because they are not Doctors or what? If it had worked for him, because of his bias, he won't take to facebook to praise the Pharmacist.

There was nothing wrong with what the pharmacist did.If there is no particular drug,the pharmacist can give alternatives.It's what they are trained to do.
The problem was not taking history and the victim here not volunteering such information.

Yes, Pharmacist are not Doctors, But when it comes to drug, they are an expert better than doctors, even doctors respect them. Doctors are expert in diagnosis and treatment modification, but require the help of a pharmacist to know contraindications and adverse effects of some drugs, thereby ask for advice, so they work as a team. One can't do without the other. Thank God for saving ur life, But a doctor can make the same mistake as the pharmacist that attended to u did. In my years of working in the hospital I have seen patient who reacted to drugs because of wrong diagnosis or lack of appropriate diagnosis which happened in your case. Next time you are been diagnosed by a doctor, pharmacist or any medical professional remember to tell them your past medical history.

Yes, In final year in pharmacy school, Pharmacist undergo a training called clinical clerkship, Where dey spend months in the hospital to clerk patients and identity drug therapy problems Doctors made. Yes Pharmacist are trained to clerk patients.

Guy, cool down, why using derogatory remark on him? Are you a Pharmacist? If not, then who are you to tell him his job description? I don't think the guy called himself a Doctor, I mean, to what ends? He's a proud professional just the way you are proud of yours too. It's on record that Pharmacists have saved patients countless number of times from prescription errors made by the Doctors. No matter how sound you are, you can't know everything

Who are the paramedicals? Pharmacist are not paramedicals they are professionals. And they work together with doctors as a team. No one is superior to the other, it is just different professional duties.

It is unfortunate that every Nigerian now wants to be a doctor. I have made it now compulsory for every patient I give a prescription to bring back the drugs they got from the drug store for vetting. I have seen enough rubbish. It is unfortunate that other health workers feel that can take over the doctor's position with their poor knowledge base. Let them continue as for me and my family, we are safe but
to every other person, to your tents oh Israel.

Sorry for your reaction to the drug you took. But you sound ungrateful and bitter. Pharmacists know about drugs much more than doctors. Doctors can diagnose much better than pharmacists.

Different but related fields. Get well quickly and be friendly to your Pharmacists. You need him tomorrow.

Na MLS guys dey prescribe drug for patients more n they will discourage you from going to see a doctor although na for common illnesses once ur lab results come out na so them dey give u prescription, saying they kw more than doctors

no pharmacist Will ever give you antibiotics for 2 wks because we know it does to the immune system and body cells when taken for long. we produce these drugs please. Enough of this cheap blackmail. pharmacists are the gate between life and death. we prevent doctors and nurses from killing you.

What makes your family safe? Because you are God that is perfect? A man that is limited by his environment is boasting of what American Doctors can't boast on. Ben Carson's wife lost a pregnancy, not even the advanced medical team in John Hopkins could save the pregnancy, here you are making mouth like you are God.

Pharmacist are not paramedics

As for me. I am more on the side of the pharmacists. I took my son for medication in my state teaching hospital only for the baby doctor on duty to prescribe a drug that a pharmacist said such drug should not be administered on a child of such age. It took the girl over an hour to prescribe the drug.

Secondly, I'm currently suffering from the side effect of a drug prescribed by another baby doctor, a boy this time around still in the same hospital. I have been treated for malaria recently which should have covered me for 11 months. Having read myvcase note, he still went ahead to prescribe camoquine for me with other strong antimalarial drugs. I later discovered that only 3 tablets of this drug usually nocks people down. This guy gave me 9 of it. Up till now I have not been myself. Pls if you know where I can lodge complain pls let me know. I have called the hospital complain line but it is dead.
