that's the trouble with Nigeria. You that ought to be banned forever wants to advocate ban for another person... By the way, Visa is not a do or die affair for me bro. I love my JOB, I'm just looking to upscale things with an MSc. By the way, you find 'unscrupulous' insulting?

bros lemme give u little gist.. I was a former staff member of Nigerian distilleries.. Abeg if you aint into oil and gas or other corporate juicy section then you don't really have a point about enjoying your job. Nigeria is hard despite all the faaji and enjoyment I still resigned because whether you like it or not with all the money and all you still enter traffic, buy used cars at exhorbitant rate, create ur own electricity via generator, abused by police officers. So don't come here forming commando even the best of the best in nigeria leave because our society is backward both in terms of reasoning and technology. The western world is still a better place so stop your bravado.

It will be best to stick within the allowance because extra luggage do rack up extra Money , and even more expensive if paid at the airport compared to if done online . A full extra bag is way more expensive with the Middle East airlines like Emirate and Qatar . . They charge per KG instead of per bag , so for example an extra 23kg can cost you $250 with Qatar airline paid at the airport , while the KLM is 200 Euro for extra bag .

Which kind egusi or ogbono u wont carry that will warrant u paying $250 for extra bag

As for how much is the exact cost , check with the specific airline as they have different prices. Charges can be found on google , put your airline extra baggage cost and it should come up

Hahaha, ogbono made from heaven.. What I generally advise people to do is bring as much native wears as possible that is the one thing they will miss. Jean and tops plenty for amelika... The food aspect is taken care of by african markets but learn how to spot fresh food by going to market in nija here for a week or so and also learn how to shuffle places to get best cost.. A kilo of eggs in pereokrostal cost more than at the local market. So just compare before you buy to get a good price.

in every community you will find Nigerians and the cost of sowing native abroad or buying is much.like 150 dollars or so i heard. Its best to be safe. I wear native alot church, school and all. I advise guys sow as much as possible u will see someone who wants to buy. Even if na 100 dollars. Sell 4 and you can cover a months rent, something that to sow is like 4 k in nija.

Thanks biikeys. What about a prospective employer from naija and how about VO disposition to this?
biikeys:

Highly unlikely! A typical employer would want to see what you can offer first.
Now if an employer decides to hire you, they'd file H-1B or L-1 for you; that would mean you letting go of your F1 status.

That being said, if you already have a job (already on H-1B or L-1) and then decide to go back to school, a number of employers give some tuition assistance on a semester/yearly basis which can pay out your tuition if you take just a few classes each semester. That'll mean taking longer to graduate in a lot of cases.

I think stewee (on this thread too) was sponsored by an airline company in Nigeria to train in the US so as to be absorbed by the airline after his training as a pilot. That fact alone demonstrates a certain level of home ties which could come in handy during your interview. So...yes, it is to your advantage if your employer in Nigeria is sending you for further studies abroad. However, be ready to give a cogent reason why your company would be spending so much on your studies.
Good luck.

Truth they say is bitter, if you can't afford simple stuffs are standardized exams WTF are you doing here, would you rather waste the little money you have on a wild goose chase? And why in God's name should I or anyone help you, this is a faceless forum , you are nothing to anyone.... Think deeply

Let's be reasonable, if you can't afford about $600 for both tests how would you afford about $18000/year for school fee? You can ask for toefl waiver from any schools through emails and/or calls but saying you don't do one because you can't afford it worries me.

How can someone tell so many lies. Howard University resumes August 15 not September , and 30days rule of entering with last day to enter August 15 i20 start date .
I am bothered about this lies because i will resume here as well for the fall session

Angelapinkytoes:
I have a question ya'll,I have a valid visiting visa and my classes resume September..can I travel on my visiting visa instead of the F1 visa??

Angelapinkytoes:
i know the 30days rule,My classes resume September and it would be stupid of me traveling on F1 visa now.Am only traveling on my B1 visa to the states and be there for 2weeks or the whole of June and return back to Nigeria. And travel September 1st on my F1. I have concurrent B1 visa that expires May 2017 and my B1 was not cancelled when I got my F1.

Angelapinkytoes:
Finally leaving for the states on July 3rd. Who's flying British Airways?

Angelapinkytoes:
Am glad you said 'based on people's comments about me' I owe nobody no fu*ckin explanation here. Yes,my classes starts August 15th,but am going to personally resume classes on the 22nd. I was not being delusional when I said September reason because I thought I was gonna arrive the States September due to the confusion about my business visa and F1 visa. And to answer your final question,am in the States now. I presented my F1 visa, and my B1 was cancelled.
