The Board of Directors of the Nigeria LNG Limited on Thursday approved the appointment of Mr. Tony Attah as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company.

Mr. Babs Omotowa, who has held the position for nearly five years, will be returning to Shell International in the Hague, ‎Netherlands, according to a statement signed by the company’s General Manager, External Relations, Kudo Eresia-Eke.

The NLNG said Omotowa, who was appointed CEO by the board in December 2011, would be sorely missed for his uncommon vision, professionalism, compassion and commitment.

It said Attah, a former managing director of Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company, would be taking over from him after returning from an assignment at Shell’s Group Integrated Gas business as senior projects advisor, working on projects in the Netherlands and Singapore.

Attah comes to the NLNG with a 28-year experience in the Nigerian oil and gas industry, the statement said.

At NLNG, he will be responsible for sustaining NLNG’s top quartile performance in supplying liquefied natural gas to the global energy market and advancing the company’s expansion programmes, according to the statement.

NLNG is owned by four shareholders, namely, the Federal Government, represented by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (49 per cent), Shell Gas BV, (25.6 per cent), Total LNG Nigeria Limited (15 per cent), and Eni International (N.A,) N. V. S. a. r. l (10.4 per cent).

What concerns a respectable company like NLNG with whether or not the CEO is a northerner? It is a JV for crying out loud. Like CNL, MPN, TEPNG and SPDC. By the way, it is quite common to find Shell executives become NLNG MD.

You should have allowed the person I quoted to respond. If shell and other JVC partners had appointed a northerner, wailers would have descended heavily on Buhari without caring to know whether there is a JVC arrangement or not. They will come up with so many funny arguments about how Buhari planted another northerner in NLNG in order to islamise the entire oil and gas sector. So bro, I know what I am talking about. That guy is terribly disappointed.

Ha ha. Everybody calm down. Tony Attah is a jolly good fellow from Kogi State in North Central Nigeria. He was nominated by Shell and Shell always produces the MD of NLNG while other JV partners produce other positions. Just relax and all shall be well!

Another Northerner?

When it suits the North they say federal character!
When it doesnt' they simply fill the posts with their own people.

When will a southerner be FCT Minister.

But the Oil & Ports in the south have Northerners at their head.

Then some silly person go say "One Nigeria"

I beg where my NDA brothers ?
If Buhari no hear me, ein dey hear them grin

He was there to serve the interest of Shell and will be resuming with them.
Diezani also came from Shell and because of that she cant be prosecuted as Shell will shield her like they have done in London

Re: Tony Attah Is NLNG New CEO As Omotowa Bows Out by RedCapChief(m): 3:31pm On Jul 14, 2016
The NLNG is a Joint Venture and the Federal Government can't unilaterally appoint the CEO. It merely has a holding interest. The technical partners are responsible for operational activities.

Even if it was a Northerner that was appointed, it would fall outside the 'northernisation' of our country's commonwealth

Thus, Your Honour, on this charge Mr. Buhari is not guilty
. grin
