The hypocrisy in Nigeria surprises the devil. It raises my blood pressure whenever it crosses my mind.

The news about Senator Dino Melaye verbally abusing Senator Oluremi Tinubu have been everywhere on radio, TV, and all over the cyberspace. While some people have hauled insults on Dino for threatening to rape and impregnate a fellow senator, others have fingered Remi for her having a sewer mouth. "Why should she call him a dog and a thug?" "Is it because she feels that she's untouchable?" Is it because she's the wife of Bola Tinubu?" etc.

The funny part of this is that the media was NOT in the closed-door meeting where the said incident took place but can you guess how we got the news?

Senator Melaye has since held a press conference to address the issue. He admitted to have verbally abused Senator Tinubu but has denied ever threatening to rape or impregnate her. He narrated what transpired and how Remi had bad-mouthed him. No one, on the other hand, has come out to say otherwise of his claim. Not even the abused female senator.

Yesterday in the news, I saw women who led protests against Senator Melaye for his alleged uncouth statement. Some of them carried placards that read "Dino is a wife beater" "Dino is a thug" Dino this". "Dino that".

What I find repugnant is how those women suddenly found their voices and rose in defence of the VOICELESS female senator. Were they dead when Ese Oruru was kidnapped, forcefully converted to Islam, married off, and impregnated? How come they weren't resurrected when Fulani herdsmen raped and killed women and children in Benue? Who mummified them when the same Fulani herdsmen ran rampage in Enugu? How mysterious were their graves when wives of pastors were being killed in Kano and Abuja?

I know that something must kill a man but I won't let mine be hypocrisy.

How mysterious were their graves when wives of pastors were being killed in Kaduna Kano and Abuja?

The last spontaneous protest in Naija took place around 1993 and 1994 when presidential election was annulled.
Then Nigerians were not divided along religious and ethnic/tribal lines. I don't believe in all these sponsored protests. Those women should be ashamed of themselves.

So you are in support of Dino Melaye. Are you telling me that you would beat up any woman and rape (or threaten to rape) any woman that insults you?

I am not violent. I don't/won't condone violence. I can't find a paragraph or even a sentence where I insinuated support for any of the parties involved. My point is the hypocrisy of those who were mute when situation called for voices but have now found it worthy to rally against Senator Melaye.

Remi/Dino's case is international. Calling a man, especially an unmarried Jigolo, a dog and a thug is not an invitation to treat. Dino just turned it into an invitation to Rape. This is very bad coming from a national Legislator. The Eze Esuru's and the rest are national offences bordering on our Cultures, Conventions, Morals and Traditions. The Constitution should take care of that. Also the Electoral law should exclude unmarried Senators, Presidents and Gays.
