nellaluv: please note: words of home office in bold. "Under Section 55 of the Borders, Citizenship and Immigration Act 2009, the Home Office must have regard to the need to safeguard children and to promote their welfare. All children studying in the UK must have suitable care arrangements in place for their travel, reception on arrival in the UK and living arrangements while here. Children are all students under 18 years old. 39. If you are 16 or 17 years old and applying as a Tier 4 (General) student, you must have your parent(s) or legal guardian(s) written consent that you can live and travel independently' "If you are a 16 or 17 year old Tier 4 (General) student, you have the legal right to live independently in the UK, and so may make your own arrangements for accommodation. However you require the consent of your parent(s)/legal guardian(s) to do this and to travel to the UK (if you are applying from overseas). 204. If you are 16 or 17 years old and living independently, you must provide a letter from your parent(s) or legal guardian(s), confirming: the relationship between you and your parent(s) or legal guardian(s); that your parent(s) or legal guardian(s) have given their consen toyour application; that your parent(s) or legal guardian(s) have given their consent to you living independently in the UK; and that your parent(s) of legal guardian(s) have given their consent to your independent travel to the UK. 205. The letter must confirm if your parent(s) or legal guardian(s) have legal custody or sole responsibility for you. If they have sole custody then they must sign the letter. If they do not, the letter must confirm that each of your parent(s) or legal guardian(s) agree to the contents of the letter and it must be signed by each parent or legal guardian" www.gov.uk (page 52) Please note that The "child" can use the parents account in UK or his own account here in Nigeria if he is applying as a TIER 4 GENERAL STUDENT The mums account in UK can be used provided she stays in Uk legally. In this case, you won't need to do the Oanda conversion wahala. All the best 1 Like |

geomustee: I think most of your questions has been answered by dannyabba but he missed the part of "How long is it expected to hold on to the printed statement of account before applying for the visa" The home office states that you must use the statement within 31 days of been printed. once you print the statement and the school approves it, quickly fill your application form and pay the fees and chose your date for interview. Also, all the home office requires from you as regards your legal guardian in home office words and i quote below "If you are a Tier 4 (General) student and using funds held by your parent(s)/legal guardian(s), you will need to show us evidence that you are related to your parent(s)/legal guardian(s) and that you have their permission to use this money". If you a Tier 4 (General) student and are relying on money held by your parent(s)/legal guardian(s), you must show that you are related to them and must provide one of the following: i. your birth certificate showing the names of your parent(s)/legal guardian(s); or ii. your certificate of adoption showing names of both parent(s) or legal guardian(s); or iii. a Court document naming your legal guardian(s). The document use must be the original legal document or a notarised copy. All the best. |

fizzile: Kindly read my post well and get the facts right before you say what I wrote was false. I wrote that "as long as your school doesn't require you to pay any deposit". By the way, all the deposits you're referring to, isn't it to get the CAS? Some schools issue CAS without deposits. And I must say that I am speaking from my own experience. My school (UCL) doesn't require any deposit/installment until you appear for your registration. Therefore, visa applicants with UCL admission have had to show the complete tuition in the account plus the maintenance fees. |

LGDON: I think you got it mixed up sir. Before the laws changed late last year, only people who were resident in UK were allowed to show 2 months maintenance fees + balance of fees (it was termed established presence). This established presence has now been cancelled and everyone who is applying within UK must show 9 months maintenance fees except for those who will be applying on the PHD extension scheme. Please note for those applying from Nigeria, it has always been 9 months maintenance fees for 28 days for years now, nothing changed about that. Oh and before i forget, the monthly maintenance fees increased by some pounds for those studying in London and outside London |
@dannyabba thanks so much for your response.. Is it compulsory that i forward the money on my guardian account to my account before applying for the visa... Because the 28days is already on my guardian account details |

geomustee: I don't know so much about using guardian's other than parents. If it's your parents, I believe that should be fine as long as you provide a letter from them giving their consent to sponsor you, as well as your birth certificate. For guardians other than blood parents, I'm afraid I don't know. It might be safer to move it to your own account. But maybe justwise or OlowoB can shed more light... |

They don't accept guardians. It must be ur parents or your personal account. So its better u ask ur guardian to move the money to your own account. |

dannyabba:The best thing is for his guardian to move the money into his account and then start counting another 28days. They don't accept anything guardian. |

fizzile: @fizzle, @ bolded is wrong sir. A legal guardian is accepted but a very difficult route. Infact, i don't know of anyone who has successfully used this route in Nigeria. |

@geomustee, i already posted home office requirements word for word up there for you. You can use a legal guardian/parents account provided you SHOW EVIDENCE that you are related to the legal guardian and you have their permission to use this money. try reading my last 2 or 3 posts. Also note that if you don't want too much wahala with showing proof of relationship and letter of consent, you can decide to use your personal account IF you still have time to start counting another 28 days. Also see what was written below, the legal guardian route might be very difficult to achieve in Nigeria. I suggest you move the money into your account fast and start counting another 28days. I hope it is not too late for you though bro. cc: dannyabba |
Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by justwise(m): 9:50am On Jul 16, 2016 |
dannyabba: Its very difficult to get a visa using legal guardian as an adult especially in Nigeria, Nigerians don't go through court process before taking a relative as a ward and you can't do that just when you are about to apply for visa. Better for him to put the money into his account as you suggested. |

Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by OlowoB(m): 11:08am On Jul 16, 2016 |
fizzile: September 26 is still a little bit far though. You can apply the first week of September and use the added value services (i don't know how much they charge for the express visa processing. You will have to check Tele performance website to confirm). If you even restart the 28 days by Monday 18th of July, the days should be complete before the end of August (remember weekend is included). Also try adding extra. The rates are so unpredictable. I will mail you back to give you my regular mail. |
