In the labour market nobody really know who's got first class a second class. Know your worth and be able defend your grade and even do better anytime you're been called upon.

2-2 graduate cry.
Nobody said you are lazy. You are not lazy. However what the employers want is results. Resources and opportunities are low. You and your friends were sent into the universities To solve the issue of First Class degree.

Within 5 years, some of your colleagues found the solution anyhow-anyhow. But you didn't. hence you 2-2.

What the employer sees between you and your First class colleague is that given a set of circumstances, he will produce he answer/result faster than you will. So they keep taking him.

The solution now is for you to find a skill or job or anything else that you are good at. Anything else you can get First Class in. Farming. sewing, taxi driving, Masters Degree, Runs,.... Go and find out what you can get First Class in January to December. 24/7.

Use that to "market" yourself.

Many comedians are just great at jokes. hence they survive through that means
ur analysis is very biased I swear. So a student who out of dubious means came out with 2.1 is beta dan an hardworking student who came out with 2.2? Bro, take it easy abeg. The end does not always justify the means. I went tru a dept whr only 4 students came out with 2.1, no 1st class right from its inception till date, and u say my 3.46 is nonsense, sir I refuse to accept dat argument. My effort might not be enough but I tell you, no lecturer saw my #5 despite d mammoth sorting done in Nigeria tertiary institutions.

speak for urself biko, all schools are not d same and all depts vary according to the system in which they operate. Hardly do I get A from my deptal lecturers but from visiting lecturers I do. Good, I was at that level too and my to wasn't smiling (as in frowning so badly) so I sat up,
studied smarter( learn the pattern of how each lecturer sets his questions and the way he likes them being answered)
Read not only what the lecturer gives you(you would have different perspectives and answer more smartly)
Manage your time( I didn't say you shouldn't play o cos all work and no play well you know the rest but anyways know the most efficient times that you absorb what you read most, read your materials once they enter you hand and others too weekly, so that when exams come you would only be doing revision.)
Be friendly with the lecturers too as "SOME" could reciprocate in kind too with marks or go easy on you. Be friendly with in the sense that you aren't a truant, and do your assignments on time. This is just my one cent as it helped me climb out of the deep trenches of my nosediving gp.
Hope it helps and food luck

You cannot solve the rot in Nigerian educational system. The end does not justify the means. There is just TOO MUCH equipment required to be set up and installed in Nigerian Universities to ever make he degrees worthwhile. Many of my colleagues got 2-1 and 1st class. Mobil, Shell and Schlumberger took them. YET they were All trained AGAIN inside these companies. Because there is a great disconnect between what industries want and what they had to offer industries. I feared one day, when I met one of my friends before youth service. He said, They gave him GHANA MUST GO BAG full OFF BOOKS to read as part of his training for Schlumberger.
All the books I read through out UNI didn't reach half of Ghana must go.

Dude it's all about stamina.

Have you ever put your CV beside that of one of these foreigners? You have 2-1, They have same 2-1. But you yourself will see that your 2-1 is mostly passing exam. Their own 2-1 is damn FUNCTIONAL APPROACH. THEIR industries DETERMINE exactly what the school curriculum should be. So the Lectures and students BOTH know they are relevant and will get Job Immediately! With the latest tech/apps etc.

We have a no industries. Nobody tells our Universities what yo teach. So you earn your degree and rush out there and start looking for where to fit in. Ordinary No NEPA will finish many people.

Just try to learn a skill and make yourself relevant to the remaining industries. If it don't work out, set up a business yourself or jointly. Stop fussing over the degree.

I know an engineer that graduated with WHATEVER degree. He joined a manufacturing firm. They manufacture METAL THINGS.
The Engineer guy cannot weld..He does not know the types of electrodes to buy. The price of electrode in the market. what voltage the welding machine runs at.

Meanwhile there were orders for products to me made. The other Local Technical guys were welding away. Oga supervising them. It took 6months before this Engineer began to understand anything at all. And to even weld 2 pieces of metal properly together without breakage. He had to prove to the Oga that he could supervise the technical boys. How can one supervise what one does not know? How do you whether 90° is better than 45°?

Meanwhile, for 6 months Oga was paying this guy 100k monthly for producing NOTHING.

Is this what you want as a graduate? The Oga was a very furious man. He only did this because Money was in his hand. He called the graduate USELESS IGNORAMUS! But that guy tried his best to learn welding their and then!

LIE NOW that in Nigerian Engineering course Welding was not taught. Lie let me hear.

Most of your degree is paper things and most tines not relevant to what industry is facing RIGHT now.

I did a MSc Overseas and realised they were teaching BSc what they were teaching us International MSC students. Same books same software. Oyibo no dey waste time.

Industries come to schools to determine the school curriculum so the students will be relevant when they graduate whatever the degree obtained .

Correct me if am wrong, first class-excellent,2.1-above average, 2.2-average,3rd class-below average, den we have pass. I am a 2.2 graduate from a federal university in nigeria. I graduated with a 3.46.if result was to be given according to how serious one was in school,i would have made a first class. The way most companies see us,like all of us 2.2 graduates just went to school to play which is a lie.

Yes most people go to school to play, even 2.1 graduates to but the 2.1 done cover them up.while i was in secondary school,i was the top of my class, but when i enter university and started seeing some of my results,it seemed to me as if i was dumb if not that in my 3rd year and final year i had very high cgp's.i worked very hard to make it up but no way. A friend i met in 3rd year which before we met he wasnt on a 2.1 finished with a 2:1.i could remember vivdly well in my 2nd year,we did matrixes as a course. A friend of mine came to seat with me because he was scared of the course,i helped him that day to the point that i knew all the six questions while we were to ans five,i did my five and solved the last one for him on my question paper so he would copy four from me and write the one i solved. To my surprise the result came.i had an E in a 3unit course he had a 8. I wasnt happy so i went to meet my adviser,he told me point blank not to pursue it but if i insist,i would pay 5k and still wait one year for the remarking. So i just took his advice because i no fit get money to eat talkless of five k. I had 3 A's and some Bs that when a friend saw my result,i saw my gp, he was pissed of. I know what it takes to come out with a first class or a 2.1 and i say kudos to them but i have seen people in my department who hardly come to school, all they do is school politics and at the end bought 2:1 from my adviser for 250k. I too had that link to buy, but where i go get that kind money from. My friend who came out with a 2,1 knows that i am even capable of a first class but certain circumstances would allow it. God factor also goes along way because if by jacking and seriousness alone, many of us would have made first class.

There is a saying 'na who pass know book'.thats the nigerian mentality but its a wrong one. To all 2;2 graduates out there, dont feel bad when you see job adverts saying 2:1 minimim, God would bless you when its your time. Olajumoke no get degree but God help am. Be patience e never reach your turn yet. To all 2.1 graduates, kudos e no easy at all. Una time go still cum.3rd class no worry blessing go come one day. To employers. Give all of us a platform to try our luck then pursue us if we fail rather than tagging us failures before we even try.2.1 or 2:2, i know am good b wasnt lucky.

I wish you can search this same internet through Google and come up with peoples experiences when they were interviewed by Bill Gates for a job at Microsoft.

Do you think Bill Gates is one daft lucky rich guy?
He will ask you questions that will make you shit right there in the interview room. And the worst part is that He himself can answer ALL those hard questions he is asking you. Hence, He is trying. to extract from you what it is that you know BETTER than him. Only then will he employ you.

Have you read the Encyclopedia Britannica from Page 1 of Vol 1 to Page 1000 Of Vol 20? Bill Gates did it as a kid. This is part of his attitude that makes him the richest man in the world.
