It is expected that those who come first should sit nearer to the altar where they will be less distracted and can hear the preacher clearly. There is nothing wrong in doing sitting at the back, but if there is an instructions against that, we should obey.
Sometimes when there is a directive from the altar, don't disregard such. Holy Spirit has a way of doing things and sometimes is interested in the things we call inconsequential and disinterested in the things we hold with high esteem. He may direct ur pastor to make such demand that U come closer.

He would have still perform the mirace without the arrangement but he wanted neatness and orderliness
