Good evening everybody o. I hope all is well with everyone. If I missed any birth announcements, then a BIIIG CONGRATULATIONS to all the new mums. This belle de do me serious something. It's like me n my toddler are competing for 'who will spend more time in the hospital' but God de. He will never leave anyone of us halfway through our journey.

I was waiting to give a testimony of how I did dropbox renewal strictly on the info I got on this thread, but now I need help. I applied for renewal on thursday, today I check my dashboard and I see I've been invited for followup appointment. I dont know what to do, what it means, what I need for the appointment... I tried searching for "dropbox", "dropbox renewal" "dropbox visa renewal" I got nothing. Maybe it's the pounding head, maybe it's all the uncertainty surrounding my pregnancy right now, maybe it's just preggy brains but I dont know how else to get the info I need. So I'm begging, can anyone help me? Please... Justwise... LadyG, Nef...FTYmum... anyone... please I take God beg una. Help save a soul. Thank you in advance

Na wa o! I don't know what to say... but just attend the interview with all the necessary documentation for childbirth visa.

I think it's hi-time I say this here. I didn't want to because it's a theory that has been running through my head.

Mamas, if you need to renew your visa for childbirth, please choose to go for an interview instead of selecting dropbox. Then attend the interview with all the necessary childbirth documents aka phema's burden of proof.

Because whatever Trump is selling, seems VOs are buying.

Modified:

This post is directed as holders of existing business or tourist visa, who did not get their visas for the purpose of childbirth, but intend to birth upon renewal via dropbox.

The issue may not rear it's ugly head at this particular instance, meaning the dropbox may be approved but on subsequent renewal, you may be called in for an interview.

I'm just saying my own sha, not authoritatively, based on some experiences I've heard offline

The follow up appointment is a new system just introduced by the embassy just last month. Someone I know went for interview and was given the white paper that visa approved only for them to call back the same day and said that there's a follow up appointment. My advice is for u to check your dashboard on time and see the avaliable date because it's booked till August. The follow up appointment is usually Tuesdays in the afternoon from 2pm. I hope this helps

Na wah ooooo! When I was called for follow up appointment after dropbox, I was asked to just walk in on any monday or wednesday. Has that changed now?

I do not know if this is a birthing issue which is why I didn't comment but since they aff commnted lemme post me view.
I know for a fact that traditional marriage is recognised by the embssy as a form of Nigerian marriage.
It follows that if our customary mrriage is recognised, then our common practices are also taken into cognisance. How many people go for honeymoon after igbankwu? Emmm truth is I'm yet to see and most probably the vo has not.
Then again, the dissoluution of a traditional marriage is easy. All you need is to go to a customary court. Your presence is not even needed. By that time una go don dey america marry new new spouses. Nothing that they can do about it. So whilst the marriage is recognised, the weight attached to that tie is I'm my opinion less than a marriage under the law. Next thing , una come say, we just marry. Is it for visa purpose? #invo's voice
Finally. Nne, do you know how many people post the 'I'm getting married in december?' Story? It haff plenty. In fact I'm sure once they hear december now, daris the end of solomon grundy.
Advice? Shebi una de wed for december? After that, reapply. That is a change in circumstance

This is where you make use of the space/column where they ask why you were refused.
State that you do not think the vo considered your husband and 2 kids and the fact that you have worked without a tarnish in xy bank for x number of years and earn soo so and so when he reached his desicion

Many Many thanks LadyG. You should earn an award in this forum for your dedication to helping people here. Firsty and Nef too and a host of others(you all know yourselves). This is me saying 'Thank you'. Will try the expedite interview and come back with testimony this time. God Bless.

My dear people,

I was seriously praying that I will be typing my testimony today, but it is not to be apparently. Please I need your candid advice as to why I was denied today. I have been preparing and reading every post you all and I gained a lot so I really thought I was prepared. My visa class is B2

My transcript:

VO: Good morning
Me: Good morning
VO: Asks for my passport, I handed it over. He typed and typed and then, why are you going to US?
Me: To have my baby
VO: Where in US?
Me: Houston
VO: Why Houston?
Me: Because I have friends there and the Doctor I will be using is based in Houston
VO: How much did you budget for the cost of this trip?(Trying to use his exact words)
Me: $13,153.00
VO: What do you do for work?
ME: I work in a Bank, blablabla Bank precisely
VO: Opened my passport over and over and then typed and typed and then brought out the blue paper. ''Unfortunately you are not qualified for US visa, read the blue paper .........I just went blank sha. Dissapointed and sad.

Please I need your urgent help and advice. The paper says I cant appeal the decision so that means I have to pay again and schedule and interview. Please is there a way I can also expedite the interview because this one took me more than a month from the date of scheduling. I am almost 30weeks into my pregnancy. Appreciate all the help.

Be sure that all entry/exit travel and visa stamps are actually legit if you are thinking of reapplying. Seems that is where the issue is, those little things we underrate though. Regards

LadyGuinivere:
Because of the denials of the past few days I think I should point out a few tips
1.Make your intentions clear
For egs. A lotta folks say 'vacation and childbirth'. Whaat is that? Are you going to honolulu to surf abi are you going to enter jangilova at Disney? Your purpose is childbirth . Fullstop!
If you read a lot of transcripts both here and at the visit visa thread, the vo's are always preoccupied typing what I don't know. Make him look up. Make him see you as a person not just a number. Now that sets the mood for the interview. It also establishes you as a straightforward persoon.

2. Why do you want to birth in America.
Biko. This is very key. Unfortunately the vo may not phrase the question like this. Bu anyhow e take ask am: For egs 'Why Dr F.' 'Why Houston?' 'Why Sugarland?' It all boils ddown to why don't you want to born in any of the states in Naija? Why should I give you a pass to my country to born. You MUST know the answer to this question. That means breaking it down to personal reason, reason for the hospital choice, location etc. In my opinion, my friend said, my uncle said is not good enough.
If I didn't have a visa and I had to apply to birth I'd prolly answer like this
A: Because the suffer I suffered to get this pregnancy ehhh , I don't want stories that touch'
Only a person with a broken antenna for gossip will fail to ask ,' what do you mean by suffer'
Now you have led the interview to favourable grounds for you. I want to believe that if you finances are tidy, by the time you finish your explanations, only a witch will refuse you.
My colleague in her interview said ' because of the risk of multiples' and when asked how many she said triplets and na congrats congrats the interview take end.
Now I'm aware that not everybody has extreme stories but that's the beauty. You should be able to have a reason personal and true to you.
Somebody once saod his reason for travelling was to see snow. After the vo laugh finish e give am visa.
It may b that you want the cosmetic stiching and to eat immedately afterwards your cs unike naija where u drink lipton for 2 days.
It sounds silly BUT if stands out. That plus the reason that the hospital will cater to that need as opposed to a naija hospital.
I don taya to type mbok!

you are just too much...... 100 gbosas for you....
