worry359: What we don't understand is that applicant can fill just one or two points in ds160 and during visa interview they saying more than 5 to 10 points which they only filled one or two points, trying to hype and sweet talk to the VO's hear. Am sure that's what happened concerning his case |

hi all! It's been a while. Hope everyone is good. I'm set to leave for New York very soon and I'm having major challenges with accommodation. I have searched and searched but no luck so I'm putting it out here in case someone knows somebody that knows someone who needs a housemate or anything please help a brother. They aren't joking with rent in New York. I can do New Jersey too if it's not too far. I'd appreciate anything for now. Thanks 1 Like |

Late Post: 11:00 AM Slot. Lagos Consulate Status: Approved Duration: 3 – 4 Minutes I started reading from Part 4 and I believe there’s more than enough information for anyone as regards US-Visa Interview. Albeit, it’s important I share this overdue experience. I tried as much as I could to be loud and exude boldness though my heart was pounding very fast (Nervousness is permissible). I was expecting a more private interview zone based on the YouTube videos I watched. Anyway, I practically lost cognizance of the fact that people were listening during the course of the interview. VO: Good Morning Ekofisk: Hello, Good Morning VO: Why are you going to the US? Ekofisk: I’m heading to the US for my masters degree in Petroleum Engineering at TTU. VO: What do you do? Ekofisk: I provide research support for Dr. X (VO Cuts-in) VO: What’s the research about and what’s your role? Ekofisk: Fluid Characterization and EOS modelling of PVT Experiments. My role is to provide research support by reviewing published literatures, software simulation of PVT experiments, Sourcing for PVT data of characterized fluid samples from Niger Delta fields amongst other sundry activities. VO: What’s the field of this research? Ekofisk: Petroleum Engineering VO: Do you have a BSc. Ekofisk: Yes I have a BSc. in Petroleum Engineering VO: What will you do with your degree? Ekofisk: I’ll come back to Nigeria to work as a Petrophysicist or Reservoir Engineer VO: (Stops typing and stares right at me) VO: Is that a smart decision given all the issues…. (I had to cut-in because I knew what she was driving at. It’s either the recent attack on oil installations or the slump in crude oil price. I tackled the latter) Ekofisk: Absolutely, it’s a smart decision. I expect that in 2 years the price of crude will have improved and stabilized. The industry has experienced price slumps through history so I’m not going to make a career decision based on the existing market situation. Also, I can always focus on research and academia. (I was ready to keep on talking but she started typing again so I had to stop.) VO: Who is sponsoring you? Ekofisk: My Guardian….I noticed that she hasn’t looked at the I-20 so I added the fact that I got a scholarship that qualified me for instate tuition. (I didn’t plan to say this). VO: Types for two minutes or thereabout...”Your Visa has been approved. Pick it up in three days”. Ekofisk: Alright, thank you! 17 Likes |

Kpimp: I chose to study mathematics because I want to have more knowledge in the modeling aspect of mathematics which can be used to solve real life problems such as helping many companies minimize their cost and maximize profits and I believe having a degree in mathematics will be a great asset in starting my career here in Nigeria as I will be able to work in any leading companies like Nigeria bottling company, Nestlé.... You may not use it the same way I wrote it. Try to get the key points and develop it on ur own and other people's opinion is welcome. My 2 kobo |

Please my mock interview transcript. Inputs will be appreciated. V.O- why did you choose Old Dominion university? Me- During my research of American schools, according to National Science Foundation. ODU"s college of engineering has for the past 8 years been ranked amongst the America top 50. On further investigation, I realized ODU has state of the art science labs, academically sound professors, a lot of cutting edge research ongoing, friendly staff and a culturally diverse school community. At this point I knew I wanted to be a Monarch. VO- why mechanical engineering? Me- Mechanical engineering is the bedrock of engineering. It permeates all other Engr discipline. A mech engineer has working now ledge of computer app, materials science and prop, maths and physics. This jack of all trades attributes makes the mechanical engineer indispensable in the market. VO- what will this degree do feel you? Me- this degree will further improve my technical and analytical skills, my research capability will also be increased. This will help me find more opportunities and better prospects in the Nigerian market. |

Kpimp: Did you see the VO comment today to someone about Murray State saying its top ranked when it really isn't . Same thing applies here, if it doesn't have an outstanding program and u say so , then you can be looking for trouble . ..... only use such phrases if it really is . Rest feedback i send you a pm |

@olenime first thing write GRE I think you might have received the visa the first time if you had rather the VO pressed on and it resulted in a delay. Please whilr filling your DS-160 screen grab it if you can but remember every single detail, Lastly it will not harm you to acquaint yourself with the research and outcomes of the professors in your proposed department and pls speak up and confidently there is something inherently humiliating and condescending about the Visa process especially while applying from 3rd world countries but pls be bold. I wish you luck |

Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 9 by LagosismyHome(f): 9:54am On Jul 21, 2016 |
kayuscares4u: No rule against this ..... it just left for you to manage the different SOP and keep tabs of the whole application so you dont confuse one for the other andknow why you want each . Also usually in interview you are asked what other schools you applied to and NOT what school and course so at that point is fine too. So if u need to apply to various and at the end pick what best for you then carry go. .....nothing do you . Just keep tab of what u doing ....** and off course Uni in US have its own requirements that are unique to each department so you have to be mindful of meeting each requirement and not confusing one for the other |
