The problem is the Naira is dependent on the rise and fall of prices of the resources we sell.

When prices go up, the naira strengthens. When prices go down, the naira falls.

Thing is, blaming Buhari for this issue is wrong. (And come to think of it...blaming GEJ too is wrong). We have to change the basis of our economy...from oil dependency to industrial dependency.

It would take time, but we would have a strong economy....and a strong naira.

< sigh > If only we have an intelligent and enlightened autocrat, we won't mind. But autocracy plus cluelessness is making Nigeria a laughing stock in the committee of nations. Government 101 didn't teach me that fighting corruption is the only civic obligation of government to the citizens.

When Naira keeps falling like this, isn't it time we adopt another currency Let's say cedis or CFA for example becase all other currencies seems to be doing just fine except our almighty NAIRA....

Stop right there,We cannot tie everything to Oil,or waht we produce, we need a stable Economic policy to move Nigeria 4ward, the last finance team where doing a great work plugging this gap,PMB should have kept them and the Agric team.

No they thought it was a silly Idea to devalue the naira, now its going down by force, if it goes to N400 at this level then we would be saying devalue to N600, 9ja which way even as weak as the pounds it still goes for N480-500 to buy from 9ja

That's why I love reality, it has no respect for your stubborn, sentimental opinion

Since Power eludes us the only sure way of totally discouraging ongoing imports of so many things is simply by devaluation to the right value.

Many enterprenuers will start back ward integration asap and when power is improved then it will be a bountiful harvest

this is what a delay in policy making can cause, along with verbose & unguarded comments, a false sense of superiority & failure to pick your political fights sensibly.

the solution is however quite near & will involve a big dose of humility... Buhari has to apologise to all Nigerians, especially for his '5% & irritants' comments & promise to work for the interest of all. throw his weight behind the devaluation policy (stop the double speak), let the investors know when you stand. Reduce the price of fuel (by at least 20%). then look set up a high powered economic team to advise on the economy.

political tensions plays a big role in the economic challenges we face today. douse that tension & watch people focus on other more productive things.

The GEJ team were not plugging the gap, and our agric won't have been enough to see us through.

Until we get off oil and resource dependency, we will never be a prosperous country.....even if oil prices rise again.

In as much as people are complaining...i smile when i look at my fiverr funds...one mans meat another mans poison
mumu, how much dey your Fiverr account wey dey make you fill on top of the world? Fiverr is just another slavery when compared to your time and devotion.

Fiverr can't give you the kind of dream you want. Have you built your house since you were Fiverr? Do you have a land? I am sure your earnings are at par with normal 9-5jobbers in Nigeria and no where near the status of a real CEO.

Your pay is peanuts when compared to what some guys bank. So stop feeling on top of the world and mocking other people.

The most pathetic thing about your likes is that you are happy in a situation like this but when bank charge you 350/$ you scream blue murder.

Before you think I am pained, I have made thousands of $$$$$$ but it does not give me the right to feel I am more at advantage here.
