I swear FIRST BANK is the best bank for this T.BILLS. I actually got %14.5 for 186days tenure. Oboi it pays to go with bank rate atimes, especially FBN.
I must lock down another fund next week. This easy money sweet i swear!

You were just fortunate. They have given me lower rates before now.

When did you visit the bank FBN? Cos I have been comsidering where to invest. Is there a particular period when it's available and where?

What do I need to provide at the bank?

Which bank is that? Is that treasury bill available to us?

Yes, they do give lower rates atimes but that their 'lower' rates are sometimes even better than the ones given by other banks and closer to the stop rate. I have been using them and UBA for years, so I know.

Go to any of their branches and tell them that you want register for T.BILLS. They'll give you a form to fill. Do that from next monday next week to friday(morning), so they can debit you on friday evening against the auction day(wednesday, 3rd August).

GTB has not debited me, I submitted on Monday and went for 14.98% for 364 days. Is it b/c I chose my rate because they usually debit me when I go with their own rate.

And is there any evidence of purchasing NTB that banks give like in FD? Something like certificate, thanks.

There is one aspect of this bid that I still do not understand. The spot rate for 364 days was 16.48%. I do not know why someone that bidded lower than this rate will still not be allocated. For 500k (364days) FBN gave 76K.

Not necessarily. The focus is no longer inflation- it is growth/staving off a prolonged recession. Growth with inflation is better than no growth and high inflation(stagflation) which is what we're experiencing. If the rates rise further, there will be less lending to the real sector and less spending as people and banks will move money to Tbs thus avoiding lending and consumer spending. CBN may not want this.

I think *scratches head*.

TB Stop Rates
91 Days- 14.14%
182 Days- 15.485%
365 Days- 16.48%

I guess I was wrong grin shocked

Can you please suggest the fair rate for the next bidding? I need to make my first attempt with GTB.

Go back to the bank request for print out of your bidding. It should be signed and stamped. No certificate

The next MPC meeting (next week) will give us an idea of what the CBN intends to do. However, it seems that the rates will follow inflation so that it can stay attractive

See blessing in disguise, I applied for 182 days @ 12.10%, but I got my instruction in very late! So I didn't make it. Thank God I can bid 14.5% for August 4th! Lovely days ahead.

why will you bid for 14.5 on August 4th, when it is actually 15.5 today?

For Gtb, It also reflects on your account when you log in via Internet banking.

Ecobank actually gives it customers 3 recommended bid rates for each tenor, they usually go about .5% lower than the last stop rate to be safe. I go with the highest of their rates, which I won't know until 3 days before bidding takes place.
I only speculated with my %

From my calculation, StanbicIBTC gave me 13.92% for 91days.

Now thinking of moving my MMF from ARM to StanbicIBTC.

why niel:
'Bid submitted for 91days.
'Going with my bank's rate.
This is my first bid attempt.

hello house, really good job you're doing here.

I did read this thread from 0 to 50 then I skipped a few. I just need to ask this one question, do indulge me.

Say I secured a Tbills 1million at 14.5% for 182, do I have to bid again every 2weeks or It just play out at that % till the contract expires?

I want to invest and make a good bid by 4th August.

@feelamong, tritri pls enlighten

Once you make a bid and it's accepted, you'll be given your interest, then you wait till the maturity period (which is the bid duration you bid for - in this case 182days and withdraw your initial capital [1million] )

Mehn...this rates dey do me gra-gra, not happy I did in April when it was 9.8 for 365 days. If I decide to terminate it now for better returns...I believe i'll lose more than i'll gain since my bill would be sold higher in the Sec market...I stand corrected tho' Gurus, pls expatriate on this.

thanks for taking out the time, appreciate it.

Does this mean I get cash return on discount at purchase of Tbills and at the end of the tenor I get paid for interest yield.?!

Pls indulge me, I just want to know what I'm doing before I step into a bank

Assuming you want to buy N1m, the bank will debit you say 970k thus leaving the balance of 30k with you. When it matures at the end of the tenor, the full 1m will be paid to you

@ tritri, olujaidi, seunoni34

Anyone has experience with Eco bank cos that's where I have the most substantial savings, pls share

@feelamong. I've studied your pattern, tho I may be wrong but it seems you've never invested more than 182days, care to tell us why. It definitely would be beneficial to us.

Thanks

So I just came in to check what the stop rates were and I'm see 16%. I'm so pissed off. Made a request almost a month ago. First they forgot my request after another weeks of waiting I was told that the money in my account was short off by 300 naira to complete the request. Imagine . So because of that I didn't get bid.

The useless naira keeps going down.
Good and bad
