Interestingly the SANDF announced last year that they were going to be making an effort to increase the number of whites... I think their target was over 20% or something.

This is the problem with quotas... if you stick to them you are constantly having to adjust the numbers to "represent" your population. One time you have too many whites, then too many blacks, then not enough coloreds, then not enough indians... and then not enough women... and when you finially get it all sorted out you have to start again, because some minority is out of balance.

Quota systems made sense back in the mid-1990's, because it was dangerous to have an Army and Police force dominated and controlled by Whites (some of whom were disloyal)... but now, in 2016? Its a pointless exercise.

Hire the best, fire the rest.

Quota system is very important. It allows all members of the country feel a sense of inclusiveness. If everyone understands they have a stake in a project, there would be more purpose and dedication to taking care of tasks.

For sensitive positions you pick the best, however those positions have to also represent the demographics of the country.

Yes having some will be a good idea. However is the government herself ready to do invest in warplanes?

judging from our history...Sukhois and their operational costs?..NAF logistics command would shoot d idea dead
we can only start seeing them if some1 like cameroon decides to get rafales(which we know is impossible)

I would prefer we invest in SAMs...2 batteries of HQ-9 SAMs and 4 AKASH systems will make even a major power think twice b4 sending its pilots to vahalal

HQ-9 won't be a bad choice but what Search and track radar and SAM does Nigeria currently operate?

Algeria spends $10 billion on average on their military, they have a lot more money to spend than Nigeria. For Russian jets only the SU-34, SU-25 and Yak-130 would suit our requirements.

Beautiful photo. However i can say with a degree of certainty that these aren't the Gulma class. They look like a new class of UAVs.

The Gulma, also spotted in this photo is wrapped in blanket. Far left of the photo.

I can make out 2 Gulma drones and 3 additional publicly unknown types.

This means the NAF has 8 locally built drones in service, with 5 confirmed as been operational.

well diffcult to say that was report of 10 seeker bought in 1998- 2000 , another report of 6 seeker II acquired in 2008-2010 but after that, Denel dynamics officials make reports of seeker II and seeker 400 systems sold to an undisclosed client for a classified amount. Algerian army acquired for sure most of them .
