You guys have been making a lot of noise on this story, so perhaps you can explain these details of your "prophet" to Nairalanders:

1 In Shahih Bukhari Vol II No. 167 we learn that there was an eclipse of the sun and Mohammad was terrified that it was judgment day.

Questions:
Why would a “prophet” of God not be able to distinguish between an eclipse, which is a perfectly normal natural phenomenon, and Judgment Day?

Why would a “prophet” of God be terrified of Judgment Day? Shouldn’t he in fact be looking forward to the day?

In the Bible, Christians are told to rejoice when they see signs that the Judgment Day is approaching: Psalm 96:13 : “Let all creation REJOICE before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the earth in righteousness and peoples in his faithfulness.”

Question: Why did Allah encourage Mohammad rather than punish him when he was lusting after his daughter in law Zainab Bint Jash, the wife of his adopted son Zayd Ibn Harithah?

In Al Tabari Vol. Viii Page 2, we learn that Mohammad went to visit his adopted son Zayd Ibn Harithah. Upon getting to Zayd’s residence, he found that Zayd was not at home, but that Zayd’s wife, Zainab was at home.

Suddenly the wind blew and the door of Zayd’s house opened and Mohammad saw that Zainab was naked.

When Mohammad saw Zainab’s naked body exposed to his gaze, he began to feel lust for his daughter in law.
But rather than lower his gaze as the Quran instructs muslims, Mohammad’s lust led to the end of Zainab’s marriage to Zayd and Mohammad acquired her as a wife.

Rather than punish Mohammad for destroying his Zayd’s marriage by wrecking his home, Allah sends down a revelation to justify Mohammad’s actions:
Mohammad initially told Zayd: “Keep your wife to yourself and fear God” But Allah later overruled Mohammad’s decision and gave him the green light to snatch his daughter in law from his son in law. (see Tafsiru Al Jalalayn)

Question: Given that Mohammad was willing to distance himself from Zainab, why did Allah tell him to change his mind and take Zainab as his wife? Did it mean that Mohammad had higher moral standards than Allah?

Is it not possible that if Allah had not intervened, Zayd would have kept his wife?

Quran Chapter 4: 64 says that a good Muslim must accept all of Mohammad’s decisions with full submission, so Zayd had no option other than to give up his beloved wife to Mohammad. This is a troubling and unsettling pattern of behaviour for someone who is supposed to be a “prophet” of God.

Why is the Quran incomplete?

Unknown to most muslis, the Quran is actually an incomplete book. One of Muhammad’s most devout companions Ibn Umar wrote in Al Suyuti Al Itqan Fi Ulum al Quran:

"Let none of you say he has acquired the entire Quran, for how does he know that it is all? Much of the quran has been lost. Thus, let him say, “ I have acquired what is available”.

This fact is confirmed in Sahih Muslim 2286 where it is said that:

There used to a surah that was the length of Surah Baraa’at , but it was forgotten and never found its way into the quran.

The same hadith also says that muslims once used to recite a surah which resembled one of the surah’s of Mussabihat, but this surah had also been forgotten and was never included in the quran.

In Sahih Bukhari Vol. 6: 61:527 we find further confirmation that some materials have been lost from the quran:

“Ubbay was the best of us in the recitation of the quran yet we leave some of what he recites. Ubbay says, “I have taken it from the mouth of Allah’s messenger and will not leave it for anything whatever.”

Ubbay was one of the best four teachers of the Quran (along with Ibn Masoud, Salim and Mu’adh) and yet what this hadith shows us is that there were materials in Ubbay’s Quran which could not be found in other Qurans.

Interestingly, Aisha, muhammad’s child bride recalls that there are two verses of the quran, one about stoning and another about breastfeeding an adult man ten times, which were excluded because they were eaten by a goat! (See Sunan ibn Majah 1944)

And so the conclusion is:

Islam is a man made religion.
