Submitting a laptop is not rocket science

There academic performance may be below the lecturer expectation, so he was just trying to use this prerequisite to boost their boost their scores, instead of the Op to be happy he was here asking silly question.

How can lecture notes be used as a means of awarding score in a university, why not give up a topic for them to go research on and write a report. That will be a good way to know if your students have understood the course and can apply the knowledge gained.
No wonder the out side world don't recognise our university for anything

Not marking your notes...They have marked enough notes in primary school....this is a UNIVERSITY we are talking about here....

Such can happen in a private institutions where students are are being treated like secondary schools children.

Its everywhere. They are taking us back to school. OAU made us submit our notes too

Not new, my lecturer will order us to form our own note according to the course outline... And summit it at the end of the semester....

I gauze this should be in faculty of education. My dear it is one of the continues assessment method. It is an ideal practice in training. Teachers/Lecturers should evaluation the students both cognitively, affectively and psychomotively. I drop my cap for the lecturer and recommend same to all level of training in the globe.

Yes, as one of the previous school class leader, I was able to understand lecturers more. Sometimes when class is fewer he tell us to write attendance not test. Reason for this is that there possibility for any those regular student to fail that course dis list will exempt them. While taking test and assignment for granted will constitute failure as test or assignment carries 30 percent. Flops in d exam hall will be compensated with test. I try not to lose a mark in test. If u can score 40 or 50 that's B or A.

Absolutely in the affirmative! A lecturer teaching us a course in FUTO actually instructed us to submit our notes when I was in 300L........he was serious about it,so doz who didn't have had to buy a new exercise book and copy all d notes. Unfortunately for us, doz with a rough book were awarded better marks while doz with smooth books and fine handwritings devoid of cancellation were thought of to have just written theirs and so failed!

There is nothing wrong with a Lecturer requesting students to submit notes. The problem with the education system is that too many people claim to know the rules better than the practitioners. A lecturer has liberty to determine his continuous assessment score in any lawful way as he deem fits. In our days in school, the slogan was 60% for students 40% for me (the lecturer). He is free to determine the ways he desires his portion to be determined. Asking for students notes is very lawful and acceptable. In fact, it might be the saving grace that some students require to pass the course. For your information, taking attendance at lectures, impromtu or unannounced tests, assignments etc are also lawful means the lecturer can apply to determine his 40%. These are in the laws of the universities. My candid advise is let us follow through what we went to do in the university. There is a lot of misinformation in the system about the university and other tertiary institutions.
