hello awesome people,I'm having difficulty in
choosing between SAT with essay ND ordinary
SAT ..which will most likely get me admitted..

Are you talking about SAT I and SAT II because SAT I is general test which comprises mathematics and English while SAT II is subject test like biology, chemistry, physics etc but you will take just one subject and write it and it's only requested by the school

i have weak. will b 23 ds year.
Walspring:

You can go to toefl website and apply for it and result will come out two weeks after you write the test..

Well I don't know if you can use your NIIT certificate to apply for masters degree in US but I once heard back then from NIIT staffs that you can use it outside the country especially in India or so but if it's possible then you will need to evaluate it..

Also don't you have waec result and if I may ask, how old are you because I am reasoning this to another levels..

If you can't post your age here, no wahala but you can send me private message about it and I can be of help while you apply for Bsc degree

Hello everyone

So i am considering booking a flight ahead of time to get a good deal but first i would like to ask a few question.

Is it accepted by both the airline and the officers at the POE to book a One way Ticket?

I guess the Idea international airport for someone going to New hamphire should be BOSTON International?

Please any suggestion would be nice.

Thank you.

book your ticket and forget all those wahala. for F-1 visa holders a One-way ticket is OK. For getting to NH, if flying to JFK or ORD is cheaper for you, go for it. you dont have to necessarily do Boston.

Yes, One way is accepted if your course of study lasts more than 12 months

Boston is awesome so is JFK they are all in the Northeast within touching distance of each other.

Hello house.
I have a question for those of us already in the US regarding mobile phones.

1. Is it better to buy your phone from Nigeria or buy in the states? (Heard specs differ and you may have issues using internet with your phone from Nig)
2. Is it better to wait and do the monthly contract thing instead of buying outright?
3. iPhone VS Android? Which is better in the US?

Thanks.

Better you go ahead with what you have in hand now especially with your scholarship...the school is okay. Like I mentioned in my previous post, if you plan to work in the US after graduating and hopefully get H-1B/GC filing..start preparing applications from day 1.
Good luck!

Information Technology is a STEM program, which means you get 12months OPT, and 17 Months extension. The 17 months extension was increased to r 24months on may 2016. So STEM graduates get a total of 36 months on graduation.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but this is what I garnered from my research.
I will definitely apply for the Canadian FSW program, but that would be after I get one year US work experience on graduation.
Well it's all a plan, hopefully God who brought this will perfect it.

@bolded
Clearly you need to do more research.
FSW in Canada and then what? Earn 40% less than your American colleagues with higher taxes? Where are the jobs in Canada to begin with?
It's just as difficult for people in the sciences as well. Look for a way to do what you need to do in the US.
Canada is not an easy way out. There is no easy route in life..

What do you mean by one year post graduation work experience. Your first job will be OPT which is the precursor for H1B which you get when a company decides to file. You want all that to waste away because of FSW? Huh? Who does that? shocked

I noticed you're a fall entrant. These issues shouldn't be prime on your mind, rather study and academic work should be. Nonetheless passive research on this topic would be useful so you make informed decisions.

BEST.

Canada was mentioned only because he has a sibling there and would be nice to be closer to family

Regarding H1b ...not all result to Greencard filing and in suitation like the 2008 recession people lost their jobs and were back to square 1 overnight and unexpectedly so personal h1b doesnt mean much to me or guarantee anything, except when it gets to GC .... some companies file h1b but stop at that and dont file GC . So after years on h1b u are back to square one

Also i know several people who switched from US to Canada and did not earn 40 % less than when they were in USA ... not true for people i know...... .Yes taxes are higher , things are more expensive in CA but for them there was also an assurance that comes with Canada PR path to Citizenship unlike H1b .....

You use the word "some" like it's widespread practice and not a complete outlier. Did you ask the employee if there was a breach of company policy? Also, you referred to the year 2008. There was a Global recession and that was a black swan event that forced many firms to go bankrupt leading to the incident you described. That clearly shows a unique atmosphere in that year. Oh and for the record, that recession hit canada harder and was the start of the bleeding of the $Cd and it hasnt recovered since then.

Also, because you know someone doesn't stop a trend neither does it change facts. Facts are sacred. and the following are facts
1. Income/wages are lower in Canada compared to the US
2. Price of consumer goods also higher in Canada.
3. Taxes are also higher.

That being said,
I didn't tell him not to go to Canada, Ultimately it's his decision and family is a cogent one.I find it rather futile to argue online.
I gave him a new perspective on things. It's his ultimate choice but at least he needs to know what he's about to get into.
