I recall when Lomomike was a Moderator in Cartalk section, there was a thread he created in autos section concerning the issues of car scams, he even went as far as listing some names, but the powers that be locked the thread and sent him a stern warning. This was the genesis of his fall out from being a moderator in Car talk.

Besides this scamming thing, I think it wont be a bad idea to set some ground rules/standards for car sale adverts on Nairaland. Personally, I find it very annoying that someone would create a thread to sell a car, and he wont put up the vehicle's VIN or even the vehichle's price (even if nah asking price,....just put am!).
Really, how do you make a safe and informed decision about a car you intend to buy without the benefit of first researching the history of the car even before you begin to price?

An yet to get a reply from u o. I know u wield tremendous power on nairaland apart from Seun that has abandoned us, so, keys hear what u guys are doing about this trend.
U can see that the dealers are already showing faces here. Which means, we all want this ugly trend to disappeared.

I did suggest that you report the scam posts or send the links in form of a private message. Truth is, there are lots of fraudsters parading on almosts all the sections on this forum. Hard as we try to remove their posts, some of them fly under our radar. That's where there's a report button beneath each post so that the mods can get rid of the post once they see the report.

I'll be grateful if you can share your suggestions here

How many post do i have to report daily with the bad network in Nigeria and don't forget i work too. So busy sometimes, bust just a glance through my followed board, i can see some of these scammers. Francis420 (a scammer) for an example, is capable of posting countless post within a short time (the hustle is badt), how many can i report? But if banned, that will means, minus 1, they should be able to register later though, as computer or phone might change owners.

Francis420, Dorothyesther and the other alternates have all been banned. However, there's no guarantee that they won't open new accounts after getting banned and resume their scam activities. I personally have banned dozens scam handles on this section alone, not to talk of other moderators. Like I said on my previous post, we can't see all and that's why the report function is very important.
