Hello Everyone,

This is actually my first time posting here, i recently joined nairaland but i have been reading every single post till date.

I finished my HND in Mass communication and i want to switch careers to do computer science. I am currently looking at studying at Humbold Universität in berlin for a BSC in the field. I have started learning Deutsch and i intend to learn up to B2.

I want to start my application for studienkolleg at Freie Universität Berlin and i am really preparing for it as i know i will need a good knowledge of mathematics. But right now i do not know if i stand a chance of getting admitted into the studienKolleg due to the fact that i have no certificate that corresponds with what i am pursuing. I am really scared.

I need someone who can give me first hand information about studying computer science in the school and also tell me my chances of getting admitted since i have no prior knowledge in sciences.
If there is also anyone who has been in a similar situation, please i would like to hear from you.

Thank you.

If You read comments on this thread properly, then u'll not type what u typed up there.

First of all, you don't need to go for studienkolleg, The Studienkolleg is a public educational institution
in Germany, Austria and Switzerland for students
whose graduation certificate is not recognized as
equivalent to the Abitur (high school level). It is a
preparatory course for academic study at university.

Therefore, you don't need to pass through studienkolleg as your HND is recognized in Germany as equivalent to the Abitur and that means it qualifies you for a degree program without passing through the rigorous 9months of studienkolleg.

You can get the first hand information of the course curriculum in the school by checking the school websites or better still, u can look it up on daad.com. You may not need ur german knowledge if the course is entirely taught in english but it will be necessary for other purposes.

I think this 2016 winter applications has rounded up, so ur best shot now is summer 2017 which applications start at late months of the year, depending schools. Hope this help..!

Hi,
I was at GTbank and I was told I cannot use a Form A because the money is not going directly to my school.
Which Eco bank branch did you use please?
Could you send me a personal mail so we can discuss more. I am looking to make payment next week.
Thanks.

If they that is the case, then u should and go fund ur block account and when u received the mail from the DB that the stipulated amount have been funded on ur account then u can forward the mail to the embassy E-address to fast track the process.

No.. its not necessary. i hope your age declaration is attestation of birth from NPC(national population commission) with your passport and that of your declaration affixed on it? age declaration for embassy is different from the normal one from court..this one is age declaration for international purpose after then you take it to the nearest NPC office

you don't need to go to Npc office. Court affidavit will suffice, but must be declared by the head of your family.

@ jaybmich, is it compulsory for the age declaration to have passport, cos the one i did didn't have any passport. also was i supposed to specifically request for age declaration for international purpose from the high court. i sent you a pm, please. thanks

The age declaration should be deposed by the head of the family.. It's just a document confirming your date of birth. You don't need to add any info regarding international whatever.

The presence of a passport or lack thereof hardly matters. Mine had no passport and it was totally fine.
