I went to biometrics venue yesterday. During my biometrics capturing on 6 July I was told by the young girl that attended to me that my bank account digit are 9 insted of 10 digit, I pleaded with her to help me correct it, she refused and told me that they were instructed not to correct any bank account error, that if I did not receive my salary after 3 weeks I should go and complain to the ministry of finance. I went to ministry of finance 4 days after that, the Director Auto payroll check their system using my computer number, he told me that my account number is complete 10 digit, he gave me a written note stated that my account number is complete. Since yesterday was the last day, luckly for me I met a God sent man who work with them, after explaining to him, he check their system using my BVN, he told me that my account number is still 9 digit ( not correct ) he ask me to write the correct one which I did, he went into inner room for the correction. He finally came out with written complete details of my information, inculding my complete correct account number, full name, computer number, and school. I really thank God, some might have similar case, I discover because I ask the girl if there is any problem in my information.

Many were there yesterday, the same man that attended to me told us that anything about salary for the remaining batches that they captured recently was shut down as instructed, that the whole list of the remaining batches will be forwarded to the ministry of finance immidetely they finish yesterday. He ask us to be expecting our salary by next week. They will start biometrics for pensioners by Monday next week.

come to think of it, the new ID cards actually exist. I saw the ID with a staff of ministry of transport who has since done his biometrics. The ID cards will be delivered through our boards.........so chill, everyone that did the biometrics will get a new ID card.

Rivers State Government says over forty nine thousand Civil Servants were captured in the just conclude biometrit verification exercise.
The state Head of Service RUFUS GODWIN made the disclosure on a radio programme monitored in Port Harcourt.

The head of Service said staff strength in the state civil service was put at over fifty seven thousand adding that the difference after the verification exercise is over seven thousand.


He said those who were not captured in the exercise are not genuine civil service.


The head of service also disclose that the state government has commenced the compilation of the list of those who were involved in the blotting of the civil service, stressing that they will be prosecuted.

The state Chairman of the NUJ LUCKY NKPOGONE gave the assurance while reacting to comments allegedly made by the State Head of Service RUFUS GODWIN that teachers without new identity cards will not be paid.




However; the state NUT Chairman who spoke in interview with correspondent LEVI ISU, said other civil servants have been receiving salaries without the issuance of the identity cards, stressing that teachers in Rivers state have complied with directives of the state government over the verification exercise.


The NUT Chairman also disclosed that the State Executive Council of the Union will be meeting next Tuesday to address the issues arising from the just concluded biometric exercise.


LUCKY NKPONGENE is the Rivers State Chairman of the NUT
