What they are simply advising is to print the rate on the date yu put the money in and do same fr the date u printed yur statement.

What I explained earlier was what the home office states as a rule.

But with this fluctuating rate, if the rate exceeds what you budgeted initially, then go with the rate of the day you put the money in the account.

You can see what just wise posted above, he said no one has been denied visa cos of that and I think some students have done same thing and it worked out for them.

You can't start counting again, not an option.

This issue of maintenance fees and exchange rate at this stage I think has been sorted. There would be millions of students that would be affected and so I doubt they would not be considerate.

You have nothing to worry about.

As i was filling the form noticed the schools license number wasnt on the CAS so i hv to wait till monday to gt anor one and i also needed it for the form so till monday as at friday i was 182 naira short dunno how much it wd be by monday

Wow, did u use oanda rate to calculate the money or cbn rate. What would u do now abt the 182naira. Wahala dey o and u cant even recount again sef. Ukvi and der useless rules. Ehen, OlowoB pls i still got a valid Uk visiting visa and i have always not broken der rules by overstaying during my visit twice now, would it affect my student visa?

No point start recounting anything and also UK likes money they cannot afford to loose all the studentx

I get that and I really don't want to keep pushing my view on this topic because is just an opinion. Individual applicant will have to make their own decisions and have peace of mind.

If that worries you too much then make a deposit to your school for accommodation, £1000 maxi if you can without touching the money in your account.

On the Oanda site, there is a calendar right underneath the place where you Normally chose the currency you want. Check it very well, you will see it.

You can be able to check the rates of any particular date or month you want. Just input the date and the month and you will see the rates of that particular day.

No justwise am going with what you said i shud do cos its coming from the experience u have had. I am not living on uni halls but renting an apartment outside campus.

just did am approx. to 400 as at then... twas around 370. i didnt bother checking oanda

No matter the rate u use it would still be highr by the time the 28 days is up excpt u put like 1m or more extra i used 410 and the day I deposited the money the rate was 363 cos I printed it out and today its 418 so my dear its beyond everybody

Well personally I don't know anyone that has used initial rate of the date you out the money in the account. I have always advised people to use the rate on the date of application.

The truth is this is a different scenario and justwise has said openly here that many people have tried it and it worked for them. So go with his experience.

If you even start counting again and you use let's say 450 and the rates goes up again before the 28 days is complete won't you damn the consequences and just apply?

Just about 3 weeks ago, Someone on this forum was chatting with me via watssap and I recommended at least 400 for him to use as rate and guess what, the rates don pass. So what will I say? I am also helping my cousin and he is also confused now. The guy don even Dey vex for me.

If you are still scared, I will say wait for MrsF, I am positive she will share her testimony in the next 2 weeks cos she is doing express visa (according to her). That will serve as a ginger to all you applicants.

oanda was below 400 and i put more than 400. im mot worried any longer. im waiting for your testimony.

My advice to those that havent strted counting is to change the money into forex dollars or pounds and put in a dormicillary acct so u r not affected by this exchange rate wahala

@MrsF i doubt it, cos as pounds dey go up and down, same with dollars oh. So what guarantees you that it wont affect it na. And dt means one would ve to go buy it from dose BDC peeps bfr one can put it in a domicilliary acc.

Dear Nairaland, please I have a serious issue on my mind....My sis wants to apply for student visa for her masters @ sheffield hallam...she has d CAS document and all other documents...The only problem remains statement of account...My dad is a business man and can obviously pay for her studies without shaking...the problem is that he just got back from China where he bought goods of almost 50k usd....now his business account is empty with only about 1m left there...he has documents to show recent transactions with the company in china....Also I hv 2 brothers in d UK who will be finishing this year and their fees hv obviously been paid in full...please we r confused here....shes kinda running late...cus schools r resuming next month...actually popsi has no money to even put immediately for d next 28 days...what do we do...should we go ahead and apply with his company's account knowing that it's history will show transactions of over 100m in 6 months..mor we have to pay moni in my sis account for 28 days before applying for visa...pls help...it's kinda urgent and she's really worried...thanks nairaland

Very simply
There is no alternative.
The money must be available when she applies.
Money in the past or money in the future do not exist.
The funds must be in the account now.
If not she may have to defer.

So it's obvious the agent has been lying to us...he claimed dt we will get if d accounts history is well buoyant....pls nairalanders...reply pls...then oif we defer...what happens to the money that has been paid to d school already....will we have to forfeit the money or what

Do not panic.
If you have paid to a reputable school and you defer they will either refund your money or carry it forward to the next semester.

Also get rid if the agent. You can do everything yourself no problem.
