Hi Hartson, I very much stand to be corrected but no PFA will give you a letter stating that,it's purely unethical as someone has said and could cost whoever signed that letter their job of found out seeing that such letter isnt truthful and misguiding.Immigration lawyer or not. I worked with a PFA and can categorically tell you that the only funds you have access to if you are below 50 for private sector and 60 for public sector is the 25%hardship withdrawal which comes to play 4 months after you resign or loose your job. Except of course you are also doing the AVC (Additional voluntary contribution)This is assessible anytime. Personally won't encourage anyone to go the PFA way when it comes to POF aside your AVC it's an encumbered fund and you will have no immediate assess to it. You might want to find out from your friend if he had an AVC running, wondering why any HOD would take such great risk for him if he didn't. Tooh that's my 2cent advice to all on Pension funds ad POF. quote author=hartson post=48022228] Honestly he was indeed very lucky.Actually it wasn't on this EE regime he got his PR.It was the FSWP before EE launch I don't speculate what I don't know about.Your assertion about access to 25% of the money 4 months after leaving job is quite correct and RCIC know that very well, but then don't underestimate the power of an immigration attorney remember I said my friend engaged the service of an attorney who I guess might have backed up my friends SOA,RSA claims with legal papers just my guess tho. When the authorities want to verify your claims they don't go writing or calling the entire PFA or employer for instance they contact the HOD whose contact details you gave them on the reference letter for verification purpose.such scenario could have played out in my friend's case maybe the PPC director who prepared the letter for him was contacted and he simply affirm it What works for one person may not work for another person just like you highlighted that your were refused by your pension custodian. it worked for Anbako maybe his confirmation will make those in doubt believe. Evidence of RSA/Pension fund alone can never and will never be a primary and satisfactory way of showing POF. Thank you
3 Likes |

irondome:The diploma is issued once you pass three modules of examination. I passed all three in one sitting so it took me just one year to obtain it. For some it can take as much as 3 years. It's an international certification so I took it in Nigeria hut the diploma was sent to me from UK. I have tried using the WES equivalency tool but there is no option for diploma selection on it. 1 Like |

freeradical: I doubt if that would land you a "2 or more degree" evaluation; however, the only way to be certain is to get evaluated. Hopefully, they would not tell you that " they do not evaluate such certificates" Try it out whichever way |

greetings: Australia is way easier, more streamlined and faster than the Canadian immigration process. Only that it's lot more expensive and your occupation would have to be on their Skilled Occupation List to be eligible. Check the SOL and the consolidated Skilled list against your occupation for a start. The rest is pretty much the same process as Canada. Write IELTS and get good score (all 7 or all 8.0). Get your degree and work experience assessed by the assessing body. Create a profile on skillselect. If your points are not high enough for invitation, seek state nomination visa sub-class 190. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Cecegal: Thanks for further insight. @bolded: IMO, it may be used as a supporting but not as the primary POF. At least, the applicant can access the fund after 4 months of being unemployed in Nigeria. I think it is high time Nigerians who have relocated abroad permanently and who are contributors to the pension fund set up a lobby group to make a case for an amendment to the Pension Reform Act (as amended) that would allow people in their category to access 100% of their RSA since they are no resident in Nigeria. The current regulation did not seem to take into consideration Nigerians in diaspora. 1 Like 1 Share |

Hi everyone, please I am curious as to whether including ICAN certification (Professional level) in WES will earn one more points in Express entry. I have read the thread and found conflicting opinions. Anyone who actually did this and it helped?? Thanks |

You can access 25% of your fund, I think is an international law. You can still continue contributing to your RSA fund even if you are outside Nigeria, you can be doing that through your employer. I got to know recently from my pension manager. I have been out of the country for over 4 years now, and the last time I contributed last was when I left Nigeria, to my surprise the fund keep on increasing every month, I mean the interest keep on increasing, and the value is whao now. I think is worth an investment even if you are out of the country, as Yoruba will say '' ile ni abo isimi oko'' (literary means, no matter how long one stay out, one will still settle back at home). Just my view. 40manlappy: 1 Like |

40manlappy: IRCC's POF specification requires a 6-months average balance statement. To be on the safe side, I would say, your fixed or term deposit should be in your account for that duration and should be en-cashed shortly before printing out your financial statement. I assumed you were referring to IRCC POF specification and not a PNP specification. |

irondome: Yes @ bolded. Would it be different under a PNP application? |

40manlappy: Any money is eligible so far it is your money irrespective of how long it has been "your money". You should be able to prove that it is wholly yours and readily accessible. The reason for 6 month statement is for the immigration officers to understand your cash flow and deduce if your POF is truly yours or not. If your average cash flow which is (for example) 200k suddenly shows a spike to 5million....that is highly suspicious hence you need to justify and prove the sudden spike beyond reasonable doubt. Account statements/documented initial source of fund can be a supportive document to justify source of the fixed deposit at the early "days" of the deposit. Please note that this is my personal opinion 3 Likes |

Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by irondome: 10:36pm On Jul 31, 2016 |
ANBAKO: Quite true if the applicant has documented proof of the source of funds (e.g sales of properties, large benefit payment, etc). Quite similar to those who use gift deeds from their parents as documented source of funds. However, in the case where the money is borrowed or any other liability, it's important that the funds/term deposit remain in the account for 6 months. |
