The VO will check the ONADA rate from the day of your application. If your funds are way off then as said you must top up and start counting again.[/quote
That's a serious one. Where will I get extra five hundred thousand?? Alternatively, can I use the same bank statement to apply for my legal dependant after my visa result is out?

Guys, I started counting my 28days on the 20th and I actually used 370 to calculate. As it stands now the rate has actually increased beyond my expections. As it stands, I wl need to top up my account with about a million naira to be on d safe side and start counting again. My school resumes on the 26th of September. The money am expecting isn't forthcoming. My question is, if I start counting my 28days from next week, will it be late if I apply for visa on the 2nd week of September? And please what are the processes involved in the priority visa application. Please help. This is my time of need and this whole thing is weighing me down somuch.

Hi fizzile
I don't think theres any process per se for the priority visa, u can pay for it at visa application center or at least that was the info i got today and its 150 pounds ( i dont know the conversion rate). But if u r able to make up the shortfall and get an updated cas, the better for u

Its not a problem as long as the bank statement has enough more for both of you as required by student visa rules.

Thanks guys.

If it helps, I applied on the 6th of September last year, had my appointment on the 8th (with priority); the application was received by the Deputy High Commission in Lagos on the 9th (Don't know of now, but as at last year, all priority applications were processed there in Nigeria, as opposed to Sheffield for all others).
My decision mail came in on the 15th, and I picked up on the 17th.
School was due to resume on the 28th. So it took 6 to 7 working days and I applied in VI, which was seen to be the slowest in Nigeria at that time.
I should also say that I have a friend who applied through Abuja (no priority), few days before me, and she got her visa about 4 - 5 working days after. Emphasis on "no priority".
So what I'm saying in essence is that:
1. In response to your question, NO! It will not be late if you apply on the 2nd week of September (with priority).
2. Priority or not, I would advise you apply through Abuja. It has historically been the fastest VAC.
3. When your CAS comes out, you WILL have some extra days of grace (usually 2 weeks) to resume, so no cause for alarm.
4. Who knows? In the course of your new wait period, you might find a day with a favourable rate and print off that day, so you might not actually need to wait for the 28 days as initially thought.

Cheers!

what i am trying to say is this... the money in the account is mewnt for two people... can d student go firrst and when the visa is out, dependant will use same bank statement in the samr account to apply. because due to the rate increament, it can no longer be used for one person

Yes again as long as the money in that account is enough, but you need to printout a current bank copy of the same bank account before using it, not the same copy the student used for his/her application.

After paying through a relative, did you receive any receipt from your relative to prove?
And what are the details your relative made use in paying.

So, applying for Visa in September isn't too late for school resuming on the 26th for orientation.

Sorry for repeating same question, just need to clear my mind.

Yes its not late and he also stated that a friend of his applied to Abuja and got her visa early enough. Or u simply pay for priority at Lagos.

To support your point, a close relative applied in Abuja for Tier 4 visa last week Tuesday, got decision email on Wednesday, got passport returned to TLP email on Thursday and received passport by courier in Port Harcourt on Friday.

She didn't use priority.

Point is, the forex rate and hardship in the country has significantly reduced visa applications for study. There is therefore no need to worry about timing now.
