The Adamawa State Police Commissioner, Mohammed Ghazzali has been criticised over his comment and handling of the Fulani herdsmen attacks on Kodomun, following the discovery of eight more corpses.

Youths from Kodomun who brought out the corpses of the slain members of the community from the bush said, the recovery of the additional bodies had raised the death toll from the attacks which started on Friday to 30.

The incident, came on the day the Adamawa State Governor, Mohammed Jibrilla, visited the paramount ruler of the area, the Hama Bata, HRH Alhamdu Teneke, and held a security meeting with him at his palace with other service chiefs in the state in attendance.

Ghazzali, who visited the area on Monday shortly after the attacks by herdsmen, had reportedly claimed no life was lost.

Ghazzali’s denial of any casualty resulting from the attacks, while addressing journalists, after the security meeting, elicited anger from those present at the palace.

Ghazzali explained that his refusal to deploy policemen to Kodomun, which had come under attacks, from Fulani herdsmen, earlier on Friday and Saturday, before that of Monday was done so as not to make him look like “taking sides”

He said, “My men were on the ground. We would not risk our men to be there just to give security to one side so that the other side will not think we have taken side with one side.

“There are two different people involved in these clashes: the herdsmen and the farmers. And we have to be very careful in handling such type of communal clashes.”

It was, however, the police commissioner’s insistence that no life was lost in the Monday attacks which sparked the uproar.

The angry youths who threatened to unleash mayhem in the aftermath of his comment were dissuaded from their action by the elders in the palace.

The monarch, who said his people had been killed in the attacks, challenged the security chiefs to visit Kodomun, to find out for themselves if indeed there were “no deaths”.

He said, “A lot of people have been killed. Today they would go and see for themselves the corpses of those slain in the attacks some of which they would find in the town and those yet to be brought in lying in the bush.”

But Martins Babale, who represented the state governor, distanced the state government from the utterance of the police commissioner, saying” This is his own opinion. His professional opinion.”

Babale said he would visit the razed community after the military might have combed the area and recovered the corpses of those killed in the attacks.

Let's call a spade a spade.
Ever since Buhari became president, the fulani herdsmen have developed a mentality of 'we own the nation'. They have become more boldened by Buhari's tacit support.
When Buhari went to his emir and speaking in his language stated that with the encroachment of sahara desert from the north, nobody can stop them from using lands downsouth.
And sadly, because all the security operative bosses want to lick the president's behind to retain their lucrative positions, they won't want to take drastic measures to hunt or arrest herdsmen.
Please, can someone tell me why there was full deployment of military detachments to confront militants bombing oil pipelines but no single arrest of herdsmen killing and maiming unarmed human lives?
I also blame the governors of these northern states under attack(eg benue, kogi, adamawa) for playing politics with the precious lives of their people. When the likes of fayose and south east governors banned the movement of herdsmen in their states, the 19 northern state governors(including the ones in the middle belt who have been the most victimized) arose and warned the southern states against the ban. Instead of those silly governors to look their contemporaries in the eyes and take a stand too for the sake of their citizen, they decided to play along with their core northern counterparts. Now,its coming to hunt them. I just wish its the governors' villages and relations that will be attacked and destroyed.
The security bosses need also to be ashamed of themselves too for playing politics that has made it hard for them to do what is right.
But the biggest shame goes to every southerner or christian who knew that Buhari is an unrepentant tribal bigot but voted him believing he will change, you are the biggest fool and may God have mercy on your soul.

WOW! I have heard another one! So the Commissioner is proud to admit that he'd rather sit down and watch people die than deploy policemen to troubled areas so that 'one side doesn't think he's taking sides with the other?' He cannot 'risk his men just to give security to one side'? Oh my God! And then he unilaterally decides that no life was lost as in domestic squabble na or the normal two-fighting siblings are known for? Even when brothers fight others come to intervene and separate the fighters to avoid negative/unplanned repercussions how much more a volatile situation that is always bloody and fatal yet an idiot decides he doesn't want to take sides so it's perfectly okay to bury 30 people just like that?

The fact that he didn't want to look like he took sides already bears testimony to where his allegiance lies. It is already clear that herdsmen come armed and ready to kill and farmers are usually disadvantaged in that regard. So even after this killing spree he will of course not carry out any investigation or attempt to apprehend the murderers because again, he wouldn't want to look like he's taken sides?!!! shocked

This man should be sacked immediately! See the kind of goat that is made Commissioner for Police and he boldly says his men were on ground but he refused to deploy them! Tomorrow they will push this one forward and suddenly he will become IG of Police.

Ever since Jonathan lost the presidency, the IPOB,MEND,NDA and Igbo nation in general have developed the mentality of awa oyel

They have become more boldened by Jonathan's tactic support, Invading Yorubacreeks, Blowing pipelines, Issuing threat to the first family and presidential villa , even went as bold enough to threaten to declare their own caliphate (Biafra and ND Republic)

But the biggest shame goes to every Militant, Christian or muslim, wailer, IPOB, NDA sympathizers ,MEND,MASSOB, who knew Jonathan is a daft, clueless unrepentant corruption facilitator , Destroyer of national reserves but still wail about him (GEJ) loosing elections and still claim every fight against corruption is witch hunt .. If the northerners kill themselves, I don't think it should be a cause for concern. It's just self annihilation. As simple as that.
Re: Death Toll In Adamawa Herdsmen Attacks Hits 30 by AgentOrange: 7:32am On Aug 03, 2016
I blame fulani herdsmen for the recent attacks and these are my reasons.

Firstly, the north has always believed in violence and it works for them. The north started boko haram as a major tool to take back power from the south and it worked for them. El Rufai once described boko haram as freedom fighters and Buhari himself at some point said that a fight against boko haram was a fight against the north.

The boko haram violence was a major reason why Jonathan was pushed out of office. The north threatened us with violence if they didn't get back power in 2015 and it worked for them. Today a northern fulani is in power.

Here again the fulani north is trying to annex lands in the MB and south and have come up with the proposed grazing bill. You will notice that attacks have intensified since the idea of the grazing bill came up and the reason is simple. The fulani is trying to strike fear into the hearts of othe Nigerians by killing, raping and mass destruction to make us accept the grazing bill. The idea is for other Nigerians to say "Please give them their grazing reserves so that they will stop killing us and we can have our peace."

Some southerners are already saying this. An example on nairaland is Searchiingforlove. This poster has said that Yorubas should collectively apologize to the fulanis and are ready to offer their lands for grazing reserves so that they can have peace. You can go through his post history and see this for yourself. Also check out one joborskills and see him promoting the proposed grazing bill. THANK GOD MOST YORUBAS HAVE REJECTED THESE ONES AND STOOD UP FOR WHAT IS RIGHT.

The north used violence to get their sharia law when there were very terrible religious riots under Obasanjo when many Christians were killed.

The north used boko haram to take back power in 2015. It is true that boko haram existed even before Jonathan became president but they suddenly transformed into a mighty fighting force capable of ceasing territories and attacking military bases. This new boko haram is the one the north came up with to destabilize Jonathan's government. Boko haram before then were being handled by the police and we didn't hear much about them.

The north is trying to use violent herdsmen attacks to establish grazing reserves all over Nigeria and they have their eyes on the MB and southern lands,

Directly or indirectly, the fulanis are responsible for these armed attacks against the MB and south. The attacks may not be carried out by local traditional herdsmen but one thing I have discovered is that once they have any issues with any community concerning their cattle, they invite their armed brothers from Fouta Jalon who invade and sack the community.

The big question is will violence work for the core north yet again? Time will tell.

No wonder everyone is resigning from the DSS.
I thought the libyan herdsmen invading the country are outsiders now the police don't want to take sides. Tomorrow if they see shallow graves of the same herdsmen they will tell the world that it was ipob youths.

Good morning Nigeria, enjoy the Change you voted for.

Dont just type nonsense, are you aware that 95% of communities attacked in the northern part of Nigeria by the terrorist Fulani herdsmen, belongs to the christian minorities,in a grand plan to carry out their religious cleansing agenda.
Aint you worried about the unusual silence of the trigger happy government of PMB. Why drastic actions were taken against other groups and not fulani scavengers. A novelist once said 'do not allow them take your brothers in the day because at night, they will come for you'.
I rest my case.

NE should join SW, SE, SS and Middle Belt in the cry for restructuring of the country.

With that you can have your regional police that can wade off such devilish and barbaric attacks of the fulani herdsmen.

The fulani herdsmen do not understand turenchi. They only understand blood and death.

Now is the time to restructure the country.

Join the cry for restructuring and let us put pressure on NW.
