You are right.

Before now, some banks, if not all, allow customers to deposit cheques into their savings accounts upon submission of 2 satisfactory references.

Apparently, references is not necessary for that again with the introduction of BVN.

What is the essence of current account, if cheque can be paid into savings account. Yet it attract savings interest of 2% p.a. Meanwhile there are still some charges like Monthly maintaince charge on current account.

We should expect charges too on saving account very soon,because that is there plan for allowing cheque payment into saving account.People run saving more than current and Federal Government is looking for a ways to generate income thru charges,Naijabet man say so
