Look for it in your local Walmart. That's where I got mine. They place it besides the alcohol drinks in the alcohol section. Tbaby4real: 1 Like |

ibietela2: You can get it from those who sell salad items. Not expensive at all, although it is cheaper in the North sha. The lower part is the onion, while the upper part is the greenish top. Depending on the size of your onions, you can grate just one bulb, and cut off the slender greenish top from as many of the onions as you want, while keeping your onions to be used in cooking your other meals. Hope I didn't confuse you sha

Vegetables, melon and eggs. I don't know what they call this kind of soup but I'm enjoying it. Since its just me, I've tried mixing milk powder with rice, it gave the rice a milky flavor, should try it again. I put flour in beans while on fire, it lathered... hahaha! I know I'm weird, so... 1 Like |

Hello food lovers, My name is Kemi Oladipo. I recently completed a course on 'Biosafety of plant Biotechnology' at Marche Polytechnic University,Ancona,Italy. I am currently conducting a survey on the 'Readiness of Nigerians for the commercialization of genetically modified crops in Nigeria'. I am using the social media and other associated entities to share the survey. I will your support and provide you a medium to express your opinion about genetically modified foods in Nigeria. Please find the link to the survey below. Available to answer any question. graciousme: Kemi, Firstly, let me state that your questionnaire was structured and easy to answer, I also love the topic, it is intelligent albeit futuristic for Nigeria. I completed the questionnaire even though i am in the States. I encourage everyone on this thread/ food section to complete the questionnaire irrespective of location. It is imperative to note that issues bothered on food/health have severe cultural implications in Nigeria and Africa in extension, especially if commercialization of the product is possible. The bulk of the farmers that produce food crops that support the exploding population in Nigeria reside permanently in the rural areas. Their occupation is guided by cultural beliefs, If commercialization of genetically modified food crops is the goal, the funding agency would have to educate our farmers on the viability of this technology with hopes it is not contradictory to their cultural/ religious belief's. Secondly, the process involves intensive local research which much be sustainably funded by the government/ private sector. we are not speaking 1-5 years research, we are speaking of 10 years worth of extensive research on "local" food crops. Genetically modified cultivation of crops requires administrative discipline especially in maintaining stringent regulations that guide the process of modification, Sadly, our dear country is renowned for administrative lapses. Government would have to invest heavily on NAFDAC and other regulating agencies to ensure adherence. The possible effects of non compliance to regulations are devastating, ranging from poisoning, development of new diseases. I believe the technology would be beneficial for Nigeria especially with well over 200 Million people to feed, however, we have to start now. Great job 6 Likes 1 Share |

cococandy: I am a health nut. Sort of. I try to stay away from junk food and alchohol. Keyword here is "try" . That's our secret for still looking like kids. I still dabble in the occasional oh-my-god-warris-dis heart attack foods, but one thing i absolutely would never do is eat at a mcdonalds or B.K restaurant. |

Am throwing this question to the house most especially those from the north or persons who have experienced this kind of food. A long way back i saw some kind of hausa food that looks grain but marshy some how and it was used to eat pepper sauce. Its been a long time so I May not be able to describe it appropriately but am looking at this as a substitute for rice. Anyone one in the house that can help out on this and other naija foods/grains that can be used a a substitute for rice. The food should be affordable for those in the Majority, Please dont mention breadfruit this is not affordable for the masses. Just like we came up with substitute for tomatoes we can also do same with rice, lets put on our thinking caps! |
